3 hrs of my life I won’t get back….

Great cast - terrible story
Revisado: 10-31-21
It started out interesting, but it was a contrived story with lots of gimmicks and the last bit was truly ridiculous. It almost could have been a parody of a murder mystery but it wasn’t funny enough

Take notes
Revisado: 08-25-07
This is a wonderful book, however, it's too complicated and has too many characters to listen to without being able to flip back in the book to remember who someone was or what they were referring to, etc. About 1/3 of the way through I gave up and bought the book, and loved it. If you need a book for a long car trip this would be a good one. However, if you're not going to listen to it all at once and don't have an amazing memory, it's going to be a tough listen.

Good story, but...
Revisado: 08-25-07
I love Sue Miller and liked the book. However, some books are better read than listened to and I suspect this is one such book. It was well read, but very hard to get into and follow as an audio book. So, as an audio book it's just okay, but I suspect it would be really great on paper.

Historia
The ongoing crisis in the Persian Gulf has turned the eyes of the world to events in a distant desert. And while the politics of the powerful, oil-rich Saudis have become of strategic importance to the U.S., their small desert kingdom remains a land of contradictions. Now the veil is lifted on this fascinating nation in a compelling inside look at Saudi Arabia's culture-shock transformation from a Bedouin kingdom in the desert to an influential world power at the center of an international crisis.

Just okay
Revisado: 08-25-07
The subject matter is interesting and it's well read. However, the author needed a good editor. The book is incredibly repetative (at one point it was so familiar I thought I had accidently re-started the section!). It has too much of the author's basic analysis and too few stories about everyday life there. Overall, it's an okay book, but not a great one.

Great Reading of a Classic
Revisado: 01-14-06
The Screwtape Letters is a classic and one of my personal favorites. A very insightful commentary on society and human behavior disguised in a set of entertaining letters from a senior demon to a novice tempter. The reader in this recording is excellent and really enhances the book.
