I kept waiting for it to actually go somewhere, it didn’t. The worst part is that I just listened to the whole thing again after a few years and feel the same way I did the first time. I tried to like it. But it was a waste of my time.

I really tried to like it

This book had an interesting premise, and I like the genre, but I just could not finish it. The characters are pretty two dimensional, and while I’ve never lived through an EMP, this just does not seem to be how it would go. I made it through the first two books, And partway through the third but could go no further. What finally made me put it down was the way the 12-year-old girl was portrayed, she sounded like she was in her late teens. All in all just a very unrealistic portrayal, in my opinion, of how such things would go. I was not very impressed with the narration either.

This is my first review, after nearly 100 titles in my library. I feel compelled to warn others to not waste their time with this amateurish attempt. It seems that the genre is so popular that publishers are willing to print anything figuring that people will be stupid enough to buy it. (I guess they are right, I did). I will offer some positivity, very little profanities are used and thee isn’t graphic violence like in many of the genre. Beyond that, there is not much to appreciate. The stories are simplistic, unrealistic, without depth. The character development is two dimensional and unimaginative. The scenario is also very poorly developed and implausible. Even the reading is lifeless, barely any emotion is conveyed. Editing is atrocious, with numerous gaffes in sentence structure, word choice and even pronunciation!! I enjoy long reads, and listened to the whole thing, my mistake. Don’t make the same one!
