Historia
Scotland has a dead body problem. Another one. And in the wake of a similar spate of tribute killings, Special Agents Luke Kendrick and Carly MacDonald know they have their work cut out for them. Working alongside a new team of agents, the partners have more questions than answers when the crime scenes yield little evidence. In the style of infamous killers Burke and Hare, it appears victims are being moved to a secondary location, where they’re dissected and sold for spare parts.

The plot was thin and there wasn’t a Scottish burr anywhere in this book.
Revisado: 10-16-24
This book takes place in Scotland. The narrator made very little differentiation between characters. It was very difficult to follow the storyline because everyone sounded the same and there were so many characters. It was especially irritating that the author wrote the Scottish characters speaking in the Scottish vernacular. It just sounded stupid with no Scottish accent. Also, the plot was really thin. A killer or killers are drugging people to steal their organs for transplant. You can’t just randomly drug “healthy looking” people and kidnap/kill them for immediate transplants for rich people. The book just didn’t make sense. There have to be tests to determine compatibility beforehand. I might have forgiven this major problem if there had been a decent narrator. Over the past several years narration of audiobooks has become an art. Some have one narrator who is adept at making distinct voices that are recognizable throughout the story. Others have multiple narrators who weave the narration like a play. This narrator fell short. I will not purchase another book read by this narrator.

I love all of J.L. Hyde’s books. My only complaint is that they’re too darn short! Can not wait to read the next installment😀

Revisado: 02-08-24
Nathan never disappoints with his stories-this was a treat because it included Maddie and Rootstech as well as a great cliffhanger. Was especially delighted that Maddie was voiced by Bryn Austin and not Ian Pringle. Mr. Pringle is great except when it comes to American accents…A great listen!!

Historia
Welcome to picturesque Provence, where the Lady of the Chateau, Séraphine Demargelasse, has opened its elegant doors to her granddaughter Darcy and her three friends. Twenty years earlier, the four girlfriends studied abroad together in France and visited the old woman on the weekends, creating the group’s deep bond. But why this sudden invitation? Amid winery tours, market visits, and fancy dinners overlooking olive groves and lavender fields, it becomes clear that each woman has a hidden reason for returning to the estate after all these years.

Great story, ominous ending…
Revisado: 01-22-24
Loved the story, four friends reuniting at the chateau they stayed in 20 years ago. A murder, secrets and betrayal-what more can you ask for? The ending left me hanging-a sequel perhaps?
My only “dislikes” would be that it was difficult to keep a couple of the characters straight. Jade and Vix. Also, the character Darcy is supposed to be a New Yorker born and raised, but the voice actor had a distinct accent/cadence. It made it difficult to fully envision the character. I would definitely like to read another book by this author!

Historia
Jake and Ellie have been through a lot together, from home repair to homicide investigation. So when they decide to open a chocolate-themed bakery, they figure it'll be a piece of cake. With Ellie's old family recipes luring in customers, they expect to make plenty of dough this Fourth of July weekend. Having family home for the holiday only sweetens the deal for Jake - that is, until the ill wind of an early-season hurricane blows up her family's plans. But as bitter as the storm is, something even more sinister is brewing in the kitchen of The Chocolate Moose - where health inspector Matt Muldoon is found murdered.

Enjoyed the Story
Revisado: 09-12-23
However-the narrator was distracting with a very stilted style of speech. The cadence wasn’t natural and had tons of awkwardly sounding sentences where emphasis was placed on unlikely words or phrases. Would not choose another audiobook with her narration.

Love this new series from NDG!
Revisado: 08-19-23
A longtime fan of all of NDG books and I have to say that this series is the next level. The characters are interesting and their back stories are intriguing on their own. Put together with solving cold cases using DNA and you have a winner. Even though I sometimes get lost in the DNA jargon and specifics, I feel that I’ve actually learned useful information to help in my own research. Also love the way he tied Morton into this group. More, please!

Historia
Quinn Quicksilver was born a mystery—abandoned at three days old on a desert highway in Arizona. Raised in an orphanage, never knowing his parents, Quinn had a happy if unexceptional life. Until the day of “strange magnetism.” It compelled him to drive out to the middle of nowhere. It helped him find a coin worth a lot of money. And it practically saved his life when two government agents showed up in the diner in pursuit of him. Now Quinn is on the run from those agents and who knows what else, fleeing for his life.

Almost made a big mistake but….
Revisado: 07-25-23
Hearing this narrator’s voice in the beginning annoyed me so that I considered reading the book instead. So glad I stuck with it long enough to realize how perfectly Mr. Haberkorn captured Quinn Quicksilver’s personality with that voice. Can’t imagine any other working as well.
I’ve always loved Mr. Koontz’s books and this was no exception. Hoping to see more of Quinn and company in the future!

Don’t waste a credit
Revisado: 06-27-23
The premise sounds inviting but the reality was a great disappointment. The main characters were superficial and honestly not too bright. The author glosses over serial heinous animal abuse as if it were just a lapse in judgement and harps too much on a failing marriage with no backstory. If the neighbor said “and this and that” less that 50 times I would be surprised. The worst part was the narration. The accents were awful and there was little distinction in character voices. The reading was often stilted and inflections were off. Before I listened to this I was excited that it was a series but no way will I waste another credit or my time.
