Historia
LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s.

Who is the hero? The Marine, the cop, or the dog? This a warmly written story that is timely in the fact that dogs are playing more of a role in war and police work. All three are heroes. Beautifully written and well delivered.

Historia
Leon Uris retums to the land of his acclaimed best-seller Exodus for an epic story of hate and love, vengeance and forgiveness. The Middle East is the powerful setting for this sweeping tale of a land where revenge is sacred and hatred noble. Where an Arab ruler tries to save his people from destruction but cannot save them from themselves. When violence spreads like a plague across the lands of Palestine - this is the time of The Haj.

Formation of Israel through an Arab youth's eye
Revisado: 09-09-15
Leon Uris wrote a stunning and moving tale of the formation of Israel as seen by Israelis and pro-Israelis, Exodus. The Haj turns things around and is a tale of the same event as seen through the eyes of an Arab youth. Both were written by Mr. Uris. History can be seen as a source of learning and improving, or it can be seen as a time that draws us back and prevents progress. Exodus was written as a representation of learning and improving, The Haj was a representation of a culture stuck in the past. Both books bring out emotion and food for thought. Exodus is a positive; The Haj is a negative. The Haj is replete with horror and despair. Exodus, while being tense, is uplifting and hopeful.
Mr. Uris develops his characters fully and in detail. Although not history books, they were well researched. It must be difficult for an author to maintain a neutrality towards his subject. I felt pain and sorrow for the Arabic family in The Haj; they were stuck in the grip of their cultural history.
Tha Haj opened my eyes to a part of the world of which I know so little, yet a part that is in the news so often. Yes, I recommend reading it. This was a long book, but the reader were wonderful.

The Crimson Petal and the White meets Fight Club in this pause-resistant novel set in the world of female pugilists and their patrons in late-18th-century England. Moving from a filthy brothel to a fine manor house, from the world of street fighters to the world of champions, The Fair Fight is a vivid, propulsive historical novel announcing the arrival of a dynamic new talent.

A story of the British classes.
Revisado: 06-12-15
I loved the female readers who gave the characters life, from the raunchy Ruth to the socialite Charlotte. The dialect was excellent. Both women were scarred physically and emotionally. This story is a window into the culture of the times. This story is about the weak getting the best of the strong.. Sections of this story are hard to put down;;other sections are slow moving. Give me more stories like this.

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Unexpected endings ..a story that keeps on going
Revisado: 05-14-15
Where does The Girl on the Train rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This story was not my favorite at first but became one of my favorites by the end.
What did you like best about this story?
I appreciated the unexpected ending. It was about a beaten-down woman who surprises herself and others with her skills..
Any additional comments?
This story is a bit slow to start, but as a friend told me "keep going". She was right. The unexpected ending was great.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

One of Grisham's best!
Revisado: 10-23-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I already did recommend it. Tight, involving as Time to Kill. That book was my introduction to Grisham's writing. He returns to that familiar scene with another emotional story. I really liked it!
Who was your favorite character and why?
All were beautifully fleshed out.
What about Michael Beck’s performance did you like?
Great!

What made the experience of listening to Smoky Mountain Tracks the most enjoyable?
I was able to relate to the dog owner aspect of the story.

Not on the edge of my seat but certainly very involved and interested. Now I want to read others in the series. A good introduction.
What does Donna Postel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The characters come alive with believable emotions.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Using the title of the book or with the tracking dog's name in it...to start a series
