Historia
In his sizzling first novel, the creator of L.A. Law and NYPD Blue plunges a down-on-his-luck Hollywood writer into the thick of a murder investigation, which he uses to get better material for his screenplay. When Bobby Newman spies upon his neighbors one day through his $4,000 telescope, he sees a beautiful woman making love to a handsome actor named Ramon. But when their pillow talk turns sour, Bobby watches as she bludgeons her lover to death with his own acting trophy.

Obscene
Revisado: 04-12-18
For a writer of Bochco’s ability, the language was unnecessarily obscene. While it was interesting to get an inside view of Hollywood’s machinations, the language was most distasteful. I could not finish it.

Outstanding Geo-Political Potboiler
Revisado: 03-02-18
What made the experience of listening to The Deceivers the most enjoyable?
Berensen's writing and Guidall's narration make this a top must-hear. Disaffected former army sniper. A smokin' hot woman making moves on him. A cousin of the President with questionable loyalty. It doesn't get any better than this!
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I found my allegiances shifting as the story developed. Who was really the bad guy? The good guy?
What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Guidall gives the book a sense of depth, of heart, of outrage.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wanted to listen to this all in one sitting but I had to make time for my job.

Fascinating piece of world history
Revisado: 12-06-17
The authors have documented quite well the curious — and fortuitous — presidency of Harry Truman. And Tony Messano narrates it well.
For the student of history, we receive the added benefit of knowing the inner struggles of President Truman the man.

The RIGHT way.
Revisado: 03-16-17
McKee spells out in clear detail the most effective way to approach a screenplay. He spares no holy cows as he ruthlessly tells us what's right and what's wrong in our approach.
