So, I find it extraordinary that I can enjoy a book about a third of the size as his normal books, yet feel like I have read one of his regular novels. This is not because I felt like I had spent a long time reading the book, but that the story was so complete and unique that it felt very fulfilling. Sanderson is a gifted storyteller, and this book is no exception. Very much worth the credits or cost.

Chris Farnsworth got my attention pretty quickly with "The President's Vampire" series. So, it was an easy decision to try out this book, and it has not disappointed. He is a gifted storyteller, with the ability to both flesh out the characters enough for you to care about them but not TOO much, and keep the action moving. This book is fast-paced and well worth the credit/purchase. I noticed a second book in the series, and I can only hope it keeps going.

While this was a novella focusing on the holidays, it does add a few more dynamics to their relationship. Nothing happens that really relates directly to any of the mysteries. However, the book carries the same angst-ridden main characters. However, as always, the story moves along quickly and the characters are just as likable as ever. The author has an amazing ability to keep the narrative flowing and somewhat light, yet still giving depth to the characters and the story surrounding them.

The narrator is good as always. He created enough distinction in the characters to distinguish one from the other without too much issue.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book has an amazing balance of humor, action, and drama to satisfy SO many different tastes in genres.

What did you like best about this story?

Not only was it action-packed, but it moved at a steady pace, unlike the laborious trials of many other authors in this same genre. I loved the switch from perspectives from first person to third person to third person omniscient. It may sound like a lot of change, but it really does balance well.

What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings life to the main character (Whatney) by giving depth to his emotions. The narrator is not overly emotive, but I am completely fine with that. He never tries to overdo it, and there is enough distinction between the voices to follow who is talking and when.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end of the book moved me quite a bit, but honestly there were several points in the book that I felt the same surge of emotions. It was definitely an emotional roller coaster.

Any additional comments?

I can only hope Weir writes another book soon!

This is one of those books that was recommended to me by my partner, who is getting ready to take us both on a journey to start his own business. I don't normally listen to self-help/improvement books, but this one caught my attention immediately. The narrator is also the narrator, which I generally like since the author will generally know where they intended inflection, enunciation, etc. She does not disappoint as she negotiates the ever-meandering of her book. I don't mean that in a negative way, other than the few times when it really DOES meander a little bit. However, I was invested enough into the book that I let those few moments slide. Overall, it is an amazing book that simplifies the idea of each of us having the power to speak to the universe and get what we want.

It does not require you to go to meetings with people who speak out of their butts, nor to take a pill that will make life all better. Instead she advocates simply shifting your perspective on your life and how you live it. She is honest, forthright, and does not shy away from admitting that, while some of her stuff sounds a little crazy, she owns it and helps you to understand where she is coming from. If you want a simple way to get into a better frame of mind to "conquer the world", then this is the book for you.

Be patient with it and yourself and I think most anyone can get at least a little something out of it.

What made the experience of listening to Jim Henson the most enjoyable?

Kirby's narration really made it amazing. He did a great job of distinction not only in Jim's voice, but in the voice of the muppets. I NEVER expected someone could imitate the muppets nearly as well as the actual actors themselves. I was very wrong. He is dynamic and well-versed in his reading ability. SO much of my enjoyment of a book relies on a great narrator. This was too good a book not to have a good narrator.

What other book might you compare Jim Henson to and why?

I would say any book where you had what you thought was a decent understanding of someone only to find there was more depth and richness than you thought. I liken this to a suprise on your birthday or for christmas where you thought you might get a certain present from all the hints that you get. Only on the actual day you find the gift was even better than you thought and only a litte like it was described.

What about Kirby Heyborne’s performance did you like?

see previous comments about his amazing voice talent

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If i could have listened to this book all in one sitting I most certainly would have. As it was, I could not wait to listen to the next chapter as soon as possible.

Any additional comments?

I have an amazing new appreciation for the muppets, Jim Henson, and all the work that truly went into all that they put out. I cannot watch the original muppet movie without thinking about all that. I still get a little sad when I look at Fraggle Rock or Sesame Street and think about the remarkable man we lost WAY too soon. I am happy, however, that his work and the person he would become are immortalized forever. It is the greatest gift WE could give HIM, as he gave us SO much to remember him by.
