It actually makes the films better, adding context and character backstories

By adding backstories and more context to the attacks in Hatchet 3 it actually makes Hatchet 3 and Victor Crowley better. It does make me wonder if there's some parallels to his own life though, due to the band that matches his own in real life and how detailed the backstory for the character is.

Dead Meat is overall an uneven, but fun zombie series that can frustrate you in the wrong ways at times but does have it's high points.
The good: The fact that it provides a clear cause and conclusion to the zombie pandemic was refreshing and some of the characters were really well done, with great character arcs and growth. Taking place in Denmark gives it a unique setting that is used well despite the narrator complaints listed below. The author seemed knowledgeable enough to keep the survival aspects interesting and believable as well as how the public reacted to the pandemic (some of which mirrors the Covid pandemic despite the book being written before hand).
The mid: the narrator can make it difficult to tell who's talking in some conversations because he uses the same voice for several characters. he also makes it easy to think the book takes place in the U.S as he adds southern American accents to farmers and other "redneck" sort of characters throughout. I don't know a lot about Denmark but there were also a lot of phrases that I assumed were more American than anything such as "get outta Dodge" and a few others, but this could just me being ignorant and not realizing it's more internationally used.
The bad: most of the characters are just body count fodder and those that stick around for more than a chapter usually either die or get seperated from the group as soon as they get interesting or build any chemistry with other characters. rather than feeling punishing or unforgiving, it's just plain frustrating as there are a lot of sub plots that go nowhere. Whether it's what seems like a brewing relationship, an addict who loses access to drugs, or a cool safehouse setup, none of them go anywhere. they are taken away as fast as they are introduced and have no room to shine. even the ending is abrubt and doesn't feel like a proper resolution.

love this series, my only complaint is how bad some of the accents are from the performers.

It's hard to draw the line on where the bulk of the issue is with how hard this is to listen to. The narrator is nearly monotone and almost sounds bored with a really odd voive change when someone is quoted that's more cringe than anything. But even the best narrator isn't going to be able to make extensive cargo lists and things like that interesting. There are historical books out there that are really well done and are able to entertain as much as teach, this isn't one of them. That being said I did learn some interesting things from this when I wasn't zoning out, particularly about the slave trade.

one of the most interesting historical topics for me and this book and the narrator keep it interesting rather than dry.

I read this series back in high school and am now revisiting them in this format, and while I think the way it was originally written is better, these dramatizations are a fun way to revisit the books.

Clementine mostly adds to the world building of the series more than anything, and is entertaining enough. Unfortunately the accents attempted by the readers are terrible at times for certain characters.

I love this series, I read them years ago and was excited when I stumbled on the audio and dramatized versions. The characters and world building is fantastic but the performances can make the dialogue come off as a little more wooden than its written counterpart.

I don't see it reaching it's potential anymore

for the first two books I gave three stars because while. I had a lot of issues with the writing, there was a lot of potential in the concept and setting. This one opened strong but by the middle I was considering skipping whole chapters because certain characters just aren't contributing anything to the plot, nor are those same characters interesting. and unfortunately, those characters take up a large portion of this book.
A WORD OF ADVICE TO THE AUTHOR IF YOU READ THESE: Check out the book, Telling Writing and you'll see huge improvements in your writing. We don't need a battle scene to halt and tell us that "it's a day of war, a day of death" etc. we know this through the battle itself, moments like these are incredibly redundant, as are these descriptive lists you like using, usually including things we've heard 50 times already. Trust your readers, you don't have to beat them over the head with the same description every single time a character shows up.
As for the narrator, it's the same, he's great at voice work but still mispronounces words and still puts question marks randomly in sentences. I docked a star this time because when you're 3 books in, I feel that some of these issues should have been fixed by now.

As with the first book, there is potential here but it's still not there...or any closer. The narrator is still good for voice work, but still puts random question marks in sentences and mispronounces words.
As for the writer, he seems to have back off his fetishes a little in this one, which is a plus. I get that this is sort of a Game of Thrones fanfic, but when you consistently kill off important characters, you get desensitized to it and stop caring about any of them. There needs to be a balance of positive and negative for it to be an enjoyable experience and much like the first, this is pretty much exclusively negative for any characters you might like.
The writer also seems to have an issue trusting his readers and repetative descriptions of characters every single time they turn up. Or constantly beating the reader over the head with the fact that certain people are related etc.
Its not bad...but it's not good. If the writer can find a better balance of mood and trust his readers more in the future it'll be a drastic improvement. If the narrator can stop putting random question marks all over the place and learn how some of the words he keeps pronouncing wrong are pronounced properly it would also be a drastic improvement because his character voice work is fantastic.
I will check out the third and hope it improves.
