Beautifully and poignantly read by Julia Whelan. I've never heard Tara Westover speak, but I imagined her own voice the entire time I listened. I was spellbound by this extraordinary tale of one girl's profound determination to overcome her family's indoctrination and I definitely will never see essential oils in quite the same way. Congratulations to Westover on her hard-won education.

The voices were great - they read well and show emotion without being melodramatic.
What could Paula Hawkins have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I don't know. Gut about half of the characters. I didn't get to know any of them well enough to care about who was dead, alive, or guilty.

Would you listen to All the Light We Cannot See again? Why?
Not for a while. It was beautifully unforgettable. I actually read a digital copy AND listened. I love WWII themes, and this one was so different, showing inside German and French families. The lyrical writing and the eager young characters will resonate for a long time.

Where does The Turn of the Screw rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This was nice to have for a solo car trip, except when I stopped at a minit market and a lady tapped on my window (to ask about my ice cream) I jumped three feet! I loved Henry James short stories in college and enjoy the audible revisit even more now.
