Historia
Six years ago, investigator Sid Halley retired for good. He'd been harassed, beaten, shot, even lost a hand to his investigating business, and enough was enough. For the sake of his wife and new daughter he gave up that life of danger and uncertainty, and he thought nothing would ever lure him back into the game. He thought wrong. Sir Richard Stewart, chairman of the racing authority, begs Sid to investigate a series of dodgy races. Sid adamantly refuses, but the following day, Sir Richard is found dead under suspicious circumstances. And then a man with an Irish accent contacts Sid, telling him to deliver a whitewashed report about the suspected race-fixing...or else.

Always a good story
Revisado: 03-31-24
I’ve listened to all of Dick Francis’ books (some several times) and most of Felix’s. I need to figure out what I lack. I guess one could say the stories are predictable but only in that there is a protagonist and antagonist. I’ve listened to 4 Sid Halley stories now and at first I didn’t like him as much but I’ve grown to really like him. Hope he makes it to a second-hand shop for book 5!

Here for the first time is his account of life inside and outside the band.

I love him reading his own book
Revisado: 12-03-23
I've been a fan since 1979. After having read all of Neil's books, I was so glad when Geddy came out with an autobiography. Having the author read it to me was spectacular...just like he was sitting next to me. I had known his mother and father were in the concentration camps but hearing him share their story brought me to teary eyes and shaking my head at the insanity of it all. I'm so glad he chose to get it all on paper for posterity. Reading his early days, the band's beginnings and tying into where I became a fan was enjoyable. I had mistakenly thought I was Rush's biggest fan. Ha! Even as a teen, I'd always believed these were three working guys who decided to buckle down, become the best at their jobs and push themselves. After listening to Mr. Lee, he made it clear that is exactly what they did. I respect the fact that they were friends, worked together immensely well and into 40 plus years without splitting up or letting egos get in the way. How many bands can say that?

Gerry Wade had proved himself to be a champion sleeper, so the other houseguests decided to play a practical joke on him. Eight alarm clocks were set to go off, one after the other, starting at 6:30 a.m. But when morning arrived, one clock was missing and the prank then backfired, with tragic consequences. For Jimmy Thesiger in particular, the words "Seven Dials" were to take on a new and chilling significance....

Historia
Despite the dismal Broadway season, Gunplay continues to draw crowds. A gangland spectacle, it's packed to the gills with action, explosions, and gunfire. In fact, Gunplay is so loud that no one notices the killing of Monte Field. In a sold-out theater, Field is found dead partway through the second act, surrounded by empty seats. The police hold the crowd and call for the one man who can untangle this daring murder: Inspector Richard Queen.

The son is starting to get better. I hope he still has a lot of material to write about. The character is likeable but there's just something missing from his inner quality. Can't put my finger quite on it. . I'm sure Mr. Felix Francis will one day get it spot on.

Historia
Undercover investigator Jeff Hinkley is assigned by the British Horseracing Authority to look into the activities of a suspicious racehorse trainer, but as he’s tailing his quarry, Jeff bears witness to a bloody murder. Could it have something to do with the reason the trainer was banned in the first place—the administration of illegal drugs to his horses?

Not as good as his dad
Revisado: 03-26-16
It has all of the classic Dick Francis elements, but something is missing. There is a lack of depth in the development of the bad guy...I hardly knew him. The main character doesn't have the opportunity to go deeper into himself as in Francis' other protagonists. The ending was really not well written in my opinion. I realize the senior has passed but I was hoping that the junior had been trained to go above and beyond. I will keep reading his books hoping for that. Secondly I personally didn't care for Mr. Nielson's performance. He did very well with secondary voice characterizations, but his protagonist didn't have the Simon Pebble or Tony Blair quality that makes these books so enjoyable.

Interesting read considering the current events!!
Revisado: 08-08-12
Would you listen to The Tehran Initiative again? Why?
I might. I don't re-read a lot of books, so it's nothing personal. ;)
What did you like best about this story?
Exciting. Very similar to current events. Makes you think.
What does Christopher Lane bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He's very good at changing characters. I'm impressed with his ability to sound "Jewish" (can I say that?). And then can he change into a Persian anti-Christ.
Any additional comments?
I've read several of Rosenberg's books (both fiction and non-fiction). I believe he has a handle on current events with the perspective of a prophet.
