Fresh original fairy tales
Revisado: 11-07-20
I like the tales and the narrator. I can see some hints of the old fairy tales these might be acknowledging. I enjoyed Bardugo's creations and will listen to these again. They are dark tales and that makes them interesting and complex.

Now in her 70s and living on Hog Island in Maine, the outspoken writer and editor is holding court, entertaining us with musings on her colorful life, spilling secrets, and revealing the truth about how she turned Emily Dickinson into a household name.

Saucy play about Mabel Todd and Emily Dickinson
Revisado: 04-08-20
Great performance with Kathleen Chalfant as Mabel Lomis Todd speaking to an audience about her life and her relationships with Emily Dickinson's family. Todd is elderly and as she speaks the truth about her open marriage tumbles out to the chagrin of her daughter, Millicent Todd Bingham. The Todd women edited and promoted Emily Dickinson's poetry after Dickinson died and brought her writing to the American public. Had they not done this Dickinson's poetry would be unpublished and lost.
I will be listening to this performance multiple times because it is an interesting , lively, and laugh-out-loud look at a remarkable woman.
For more information about the Todd women see the excellent biography "After Emily -- Two Remarkable Women and the Legacy of America's Greatest Poet" By: Julie Dobrow Narrated by: Andrea Gallo.

Historia
When Charlotte Heywood accepts an invitation to visit the newly fashionable seaside resort of Sanditon, she is introduced to a full range of polite society, from reigning local dowager Lady Denham to her impoverished ward Clara, and from the handsome, feckless Sidney Parker to his amusing, if hypochondriac, sisters. A heroine whose clear-sighted common sense is often at war with romance, Charlotte cannot help observing around her both folly and passion in many guises. But can the levelheaded Charlotte herself resist the desires of the heart?

Wish there was more but still an enjoyable listen
Revisado: 01-15-20
I bought this to listen to the novel as started by Jane Austen since I am watching the PSB version of Sanditon that was released in the U.S. this month, January 2020. It was good to hear Austen's fragment and compare it to what is happening in the TV Series. I enjoyed the discussion between Mr. Parker and Charlotte's father Mr. Heywood about why Mr. Parker was in the wrong Willingden in the first place. Great narration.

Historia
Zero is just one of 20,000 people aboard a spaceship bound for a new planet set to be colonized. The journey is over a century long but luckily, everyone is in stasis, so they’ll be safe and sound asleep during the trip. Everyone that is, except for Zero, whose pod has malfunctioned, waking him up a hundred years early. His initial excitement in roaming the ship alone quickly turns to a heart-stopping interstellar adventure when a family of space pirates show up, trying to hijack the ship and take the colonizers hostage.

Fun smart lively YA read
Revisado: 01-10-19
I enjoyed this book, so much that I stayed up very late to finish it. The performances were good and the characters were easy to follow. The technology made sense but wasn't overwhelming. I will probably re-listen to this book every other year. Good addition to my library.

From trees with mysterious powers to a tinsel baby that talks, philosophical fairies to flying dogs, a haunted house to a disappearing train, Winterson's innovative stories encompass the childlike and spooky wonder of Christmas, perfect for listening to by the fire with loved ones or while traveling home for the holidays.

Unusal stories and a personal glimpse of Winterson
Revisado: 12-19-18
These are fun, contemporary, and meditative Christmas stories. Between each story Jeanette Winterson talks about her holiday traditions and how each recipe became a part of those traditions. I would have purchased the book just for her biographical stories. Example, Winterson was friends with author Ruth Rendell and they spent many Christmases together. Imogen Church is an excellent narrator and Winterson narrates the feast chapters so we are hearing her history from her. This is a great addition to my library and I will be listening to it every year as part of my holiday tradition.

Juliet Stevenson makes the book.
Revisado: 06-21-18
I have several audio versions of PERSUASION and like Juliet Stevenson's narration the best. Her characters are clear and easy to follow. Her reading speed is lively but not too hurried. I am now seeking out other books she has narrated.
