Historia
Diana O’Toole is perfectly on track. She will be married by thirty, done having kids by thirty-five, and move out to the New York City suburbs, all while climbing the professional ladder in the cutthroat art auction world. She’s an associate specialist at Sotheby’s now, but her boss has hinted at a promotion if she can close a deal with a high-profile client. She’s not engaged just yet, but she knows her boyfriend, Finn, a surgical resident, is about to propose on their romantic getaway to the Galápagos - days before her thirtieth birthday. Right on time.

Waste of time and credit
Revisado: 02-24-22
Very long and boring recap of COVID experience made into a novel. Narrator voice (both actual Audible narrator and literary narrator) always petulant and whining the whole novel. Between the political preachiness, very tiresome, and looong drawn-out storyline, as well as narrator’s irritating and monotonous tone, this Audible purchase was total waste of credit. I forced myself to finish the story to give it a chance but wish I had quit as soon as I realized it sucked (quarter through the book) because Audible won’t allow me to return the book. I wish today’s authors would quit churning out garbage and focus on quality. Not sure why so many good reviews, maybe some people just allow woke culture to make their choices.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

Good but drags on…
Revisado: 01-18-22
This is a very good novel overall, and provides a lot of insight into Afghan culture. The writing is very beautiful at times, and the storyline unique. That being said, the story just drags on and on…I feel like the last quarter of the book is just overpacked with meaningless details and events, with the narrator repeating the same memories and observations, and dragging down the whole story. I usually try to choose longer books on Audible to feel like I’m getting my money’s worth, but in this case I feel that much of the later book was just tedious and needed to be trimmed down, and I was glad when it finally ended.

Historia
Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden. In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees...and a collection of precious “butterflies” - young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.

Not good audiobook or story
Revisado: 01-01-22
Very annoying male narrator who sounded like a cringy high school English teacher. The premise of the story itself, holding a just-rescued kidnapping/abused victim in a police interviewing room for days on end to coerce her into giving them information was dumb, and the rest of the novel not believable. Between the poor narrators and the ridiculous story, big waste of time and not worth a credit. I couldn’t even finish it.

Tedious
Revisado: 05-08-21
This wasn’t the worst Audible book I’ve listened to lately, but that’s not saying much. Actual plot was predictable, although the premise was good. The characters were not believable, and their dialogue just didn’t sound like how people in their 20s or 30s talk these days. So much description of everything—outfits, weather, cars, etc was exhausting and unnecessary. The book could have been cut in half if the wordiness was cleaned up, and then maybe wouldn’t have been so irritating. There is something wrong with the last chapter recording when it wouldn’t play until restarted a couple times.

it actually works
Revisado: 06-10-20
This book really works to help stop drinking! A younger family member was able to stop his very severe drinking after listening to the other 'Easy Way' book. He recommended the original 'Easy Way' book to me, and after doing some research, I ended up buying the women's version. Well, it's been about 2 months since I first listened to this book, and I haven't had a drink since I finished the book (I had been drinking 2-5 drinks per night for years, and my husband still drinks daily after work). We all kind of know 'why' alcohol is bad, but listening to someone break it all down to you, and describe all the great things that will happen to you after you stop, is actually VERY helpful...for the price of this book, I was able to stop a habit that was robbing me of my health and making me feel guilty and ashamed...with minimal discomfort and without feeling deprived. Great narrator. A good book to buy and listen to even if you don't plan on stopping drinking at the moment. 100 percent recommend.

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

Great! An excellent story and audiobook!!!
Revisado: 09-28-14
If you could sum up Gone Girl in three words, what would they be?
This book was so funny! I honestly hadn't seen the reviews, just bought it because I tend to like longer books (seems like I get more for my money that way). The story moved along quickly, had lots of twists and surprises down to the end.
Have you listened to any of Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't heard either narrator before. I thought that both were great...at first, I thought the whiny voice of Amy very irritating, until I later realized why she sounded how she did. This was one of the best audiobooks I've listened to, both for the entertainment value and the narration.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The story seems rather confusing at times (purposely), and it's difficult to figure out what is really going on until one is well into the story. A nice surprise, considering how in most novels the reader or listener can, for the most part, figure out what's going on and the probable ending 1/4 into the book. This one keeps you guessing the whole time! Hopefully the movie will be as good.

Historia
Countess Ellen Olenska, separated from her European husband, returns to old New York society. She bears with her an independence and an awareness of life which stirs the educated sensitivity of the charming Newland Archer, engaged to be married to her cousin, May Welland. Though he accepts the society's standards and rules he is acutely aware of their limitations. He knows May will assure him a conventional future but Ellen, scandalously separated from her husband, forces Archer to question his values and beliefs.

Excellent story and narration
Revisado: 09-28-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is a classic novel detailing the hypocrisy and snobbery of some New York City's upper-class in the 1870s but written in 1920. I bought the novel (feeling rather guilty for some of the less-intellectual stories I usually buy) thinking that it would be probably rather slow and hard to follow, but was pleasantly surprised that, once I got through the first few chapters and became more familiar with the cast of characters, the plot was quite interesting and engaging. It was easy to become absorbed in the plot. Although the book was written so long ago, the language seems fresh and unstilted. A classic tale of romance complicated by the constrictions of a particularly rigid and unforgiving society.
What about David Horovitch’s performance did you like?
He had an excellent voice that was soothing but not boring. It was easy to distinguish between the various main characters, including females.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Although entertaining, the book was not one that I would listen to all at once, as the plot and characters can be somewhat tedious at times.
Any additional comments?
Am looking forward to seeing the film to see how it compares.
