Historia
Butangen, Norway, the years before WWII: Astrid Hekne has inherited the fighting spirit of her grandmother, who was a protector of the mythic Sister Bells that had once hung in the village’s church. The once-traitorous priest Kai Schweigaard, now in his eighties, is wondering how his death, prophesied in a centuries-old tapestry, will come true. Schweigaard tries to understand the myths about the Night of the Scourge, which, according to old village beliefs, is the night when the known world will fall and the Earth will be scraped down to bare rock. Then Norway is occupied by the Nazis.

Easily one of the best series I’ve read
Revisado: 03-05-25
This is a story of generations in a small village in Norway. The characters are well developed and will live on in my imagination. I don’t want to give anything away. I read a lot and this is easily one of the best series I’ve read. The writing is excellent and the story is full of love and life. Lars Myttig never disappoints.

A door into the imagination
Revisado: 03-19-24
This was a really fun book. The story is magical and intriguing. It kept me engaged throughout. The narrator was easy to listen to (sorry, I couldn’t give five stars for the performance because you pronounced library like libary… in a book about books with a magical library). I won’t give spoilers, I just really enjoyed this story and hope the author writes more about the books, more about the characters and the library!

Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Historia
One June day when Mia Jacob can no longer see a way to survive, the power of words saves her. The Scarlet Letter was written almost two hundred years earlier, but it seems to tell the story of Mia’s mother, Ivy, and their life inside the Community—an oppressive cult in western Massachusetts where contact with the outside world is forbidden. But how could this be? How could Nathaniel Hawthorne have so perfectly captured the pain and loss that Mia carries inside her?

Historia
Inti Flynn arrives in Scotland with her twin sister, Aggie, to lead a team of biologists tasked with reintroducing fourteen gray wolves into the remote Highlands. She hopes to heal not only the dying landscape, but Aggie, too, unmade by the terrible secrets that drove the sisters out of Alaska. Inti is not the woman she once was, either, changed by the harm she’s witnessed—inflicted by humans on both the wild and each other. Yet as the wolves surprise everyone by thriving, Inti begins to let her guard down, even opening herself up to the possibility of love.
