Historia
We are constantly being formed by the world around us. To be formed by Jesus will require us to become his apprentice. To live by what the first Christian disciples called a Rule of Life—a set of practices and relational rhythms that slow us down and open up space in our daily lives for God to do what only God can do—transforms the deepest parts of us to become like him.

Apprenticing is one of the best descriptions of following since it describes a process, one that points to dedication, persistence, attitude of learning, following one's teacher, growing in the skills of the apprenticeship.

Historia
Many seek reassurance or perceived unity by creating doctrinal statements, but that misses the point. Doctrine is necessary, but it is not the solution. In his new book Until Unity, New York Times best-selling author Francis Chan tells listeners that the real problem is shallow or even nonexistent love for each other. Although the Bible commands unity, some will resist these unifying efforts. We see it every day. We have to hate sin, love truth, and pursue unity for the church.

The Rx for Unity
Revisado: 01-11-23
Unity in an unbelievably fractured nation and world? Unity in the universal body of Christ with its thousands of body parts at war against each other, to the point of shooting their own wounded? Chan gives the church the prescription for every believer in the hospital called "church". Rx = be a Spirit filled person, and unity will follow.

Fantastic story!
Revisado: 09-09-22
So very much in life is hidden from view from the outside (and from self-awareness far too often)...both pain and joy, but by far pain is buried so deep that death's shovel moves it deeper than the body in which it was contained.

Historia
What would happen if you admitted you weren't a good person? It's a seemingly crazy question. From priests to prisoners, nearly everyone thinks they're morally better than average. Why change our minds? In his conversational and delightfully self-effacing style, Brant Hansen shows us why we should fight our drive to be self-righteous: it's breathtakingly freeing. What's more, just admitting that we're profoundly biased toward ourselves and want desperately to preserve our rightness at all costs even helps us improve our relationships with God and others.

Over-the-top great!
Revisado: 05-08-21
Brant Hansen does it again! He is unique, funny, but wields the sword of Scripture that pierces the complacent heart... One leaves each chapter with a new take on old truth and this gives way to conviction and often repentance. God, continue to speak to and through Brant!

Historia
In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

It's a radical, provocative idea: We're not entitled to get offended or stay angry. The idea of our own "righteous anger" is a myth. It is the number-one problem in our societies today and, as Dallas Willard says, Christians have not been taught out of it.

If this book had been written 40 or 50 years ago my life would be different now if I had taken the time to read it and put it into practice. The message of this book needs to be widely read and circulated. If taken to heart this will likely transform many lines, including my own.

God Has a Name is a simple yet profound guide to understanding God in a new light--focusing on what God says about himself. This one shift has the potential to radically alter how you relate to God, not as a doctrine, but as a relational being who responds to you in an elastic, back-and-forth way.

Really great view of our great God, Yehweh! New concepts and ideas explored that come from knowledge of the Hebrew language and add tremendously to new ways of viewing the cosmic Great Controversy and the place on the stage and part that humanity plays in Yehweh's plan to eradicate sin and evil from His universe. Highly recommended read!
