Take this out of the Horror selection!!

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!! WARNING!!! I got got. This was not a horror. It was a slowly rolling history of a dysfunctional family and a guppy woman. The fish woman lived, had kids, and died. That's it. There were some interesting bits but not enough to recommend this. So much more could have been done with Eleanor and her children. The voice actor was great and I recommend him. However, he could not save this boring ass story line. Even as an omnibus, cannot recommend.

A funny thing happened on the way to my suicide...

As someone not really into short stories, I found this one refreshing and quite funny. If you like American Gods, consider this a nice tangent with a depressed,acerbic protagonist who is having the worst day of his life. The one liners make the story. I giggled upon learning that, in the spirit world, possession is 9/10's of the law and why cancer cells deserve Star Wars references.. At times I felt like I was pulled into a Naked Lunch hallucination only to be kicked through the front door of Valhalla. There are so many gems and memorable lines that I feel the need to incorporate a few of them in my list of insults. I would love to see the reluctant hero in a longer novel, as his story leaves plenty of room to be fleshed out. All in all, made for a good listen and I look forward to listening to other works by this author.

i have binged on books 2-6 for the past week and was not disappointed. RC Bray can narrate stereo instructions and i would hang on to every word.

ode to the old fart

behind every cantankerous old man is a story, and I'm glad to have read this one. We all know an Ove. I hope this book encourages this who read it to be bold enough to extend themselves into the life of that man. It may just change everyone involved.

Gut wrenching realism

a well written and frightening account about a real possibility. I did not to expect to be in tears halfway through. The raw emotion of watching your family die and being helpless to stop it forced me outside to get some air and clear my head. This was too real to shrug off as simply a great work of fiction. this book changed me.

yet another great installment of Skippy and the space paramecium. I never thought quantum physics could be so entertaining. also, these alien species have character and personality. totally relatable. I look forward to the next book.
