Book is really good on its own, but the narrator was top-notch and brought all the characters to life in just the rights ways. It does get extremely steamy at one part so definitely listen with headphones!!

Best narrator on the planet

Julia Whelan is astounding. Every character has their own distinct voice and she enhances their personality through her narration.

This is NOT like the Netflix show

The names are the same, but much of everything else is different. Different story, scenes, character development, etc. This is very much like a typical period romance novel. Obviously, the characters are not multi-racial which is expected, but I thought the women would be similar in strength and character like the show. To be fair, I am not a fan of this type of book, but enjoyed to Netflix show and thought the book would be similar to the story shown. It is very different. Just be aware and manage expectations.

All about the narrators

The full cast of narrators brought this somewhat above average book to life. Throughly enjoyed listening to them spar and will add several of them (including the incomparable Sebastian York) to my list of preferred readers.

Definitely NOT suitable for work cause you’ll laugh out loud

OK, yes there is a lot of profanity, but it is so well done, you’ll hardly notice after a while. You have to pay attention because this is chock full of pop culture and current event references, as well as phrases commonly used today, all of which lends to the story. Rhetta is FANTASTIC and perfectly cast. I want more - more Rhetta, more Tinaca!

Wish it tied into the series a bit more

As a standalone novel, it is pretty good. However, standing up next to 14 and The Fold, it is definitely the weakest of the trio. Character development definitely was weak and the story wasn't as flushed out as Clines usually does. I'll still be down to read any others in the series, but wish there was a more cohesive thread between the books.

Not worth my time... or yours

The book was OK in the beginning, but at least four hours should have been edited out as they had no value to the story and got very repetitive. However, narrator was very good and was the only thing that kept me going to the end (he was actually the reason I listened to the book). I won't continue the series as I expect it’ll just be more of the same. Honestly, pick another book to spend 24 hours on instead of this book.

Not typically my type of book, but I did enjoy the characters and the twist on the story. Somewhat predictable, yet it manages to surprise you.
