As a fellow d&d and book geek, I was a big fan of all the geekdom nods. Jay & Leo are sweet and adorable. The spice scenes were generally very hot, one or two were over the top for me personally, but still steamy.
Narrator deserves top marks for his work here, he gets very into the spirit of things at times. And to my non-UK ear, did an amazing jobs with the various UK accents.

I really enjoyed this book. Fascinating information that was well written and well narrated. Highly recommend for anyone who is curious about how other species think.

While I’m sad to see the series done, this was a fantastic way to end it. Looking forward to what Kevin gets up to next!

I’ve loved every minute of this series, and I was both eager to see how it ended and sad to see it end. I really hope Kevin writes more stories in this amazing world he’s created.

While this one keeps the same format of multiple short stories, they are very closely connected in this book. Romance plays a much bigger part in this book, but there’s still a lot of sleuthing fun to be had! Some great new location settings, lots more backstory on Stetson, and some fantastic new characters.

And, of course, a stellar performance by Jennifer Lewis!

All in all a wonderful sequel, I’m looking forward to the next one!

If you’re here you’ve probably already read the other Supervillainy books, and that’s good, because they’re fantastic. And this one is more of the same, in a good way! Gary has some good growth moments, even gets himself an 80’s montage for some of it! And there’s some tying up of loose ends that is satisfying to see. And of course you’re going to laugh along the way. The jokes and quips we’ve all come to love and expect in a Phipps book are here.

Like many of Phipps’ books there’s bleed over from other series. Unlike the others though, this one has quite a few spoilers for those. And in particular it’d be good if you’re current on the Wraith Knight series. Although Gary doesn’t know what is happening so maybe it’s ok if you don’t either.

Jeffrey Kafer knocks it out of the park as always on performance.

While it's just as action packed as book one, there's definitely some new twists for you in here. I feel I got to know Kei a lot better in this book, and not just because I got a lot more of her backstory. With Becky she has more to lose and so is more vulnerable as well. This book also gets a lot more into the "cyber" part of cyber punk - but lucky for Kei, she has Paradise! As someone who loved playing the game Shadowrun I do still swear I sometimes hear the dice roll in the book with either a crit success or failure, which has a certain sweet nostalgia for me, as well as making for some fantastic storytelling.

Catherine Ho did amazing as always as narrator. She definitely helps bring Kei to life in my mind.

Changing narrators mid-series can be hard, but Samuel E Hoke convinced me from the beginning that he was exceptional. If you're also a fan of Frank Muller, he reminds me a bit of him, in the sense that he reads the text in an engaging way but doesn't go in for extreme vocal changes. He reads the book, it's not a one man dramatization.
But of course even a good narrator can only do so much, and Phipps carries the rest of it with a fantastic story. It's been awhile since i visited the Wraith Knight series and it was oddly refreshing to get some serious Phipps again. I love the quips as much as the next person, but sometimes you just need a little dark fantasy in your day.
It's hard to really get into what I loved about this book without also going all spoiler, and let's face it, if you're reading a review of book three in a series, you already know you want to listen. So let me just say, it won't disappoint. If you're worried about the narrator change, don't be. If you're worried it won't live up to the other books, let's just say, you got nothing to worry about.
There are some excellent developments both in Jacob and in the world building. I, for one, am very much looking forward to book 4.

I was intrigued by the premise and it did not disappoint. This is now the canon Robin Hood in my mind.
Jennifer Lewis was amazing, as always, with all the different voices.

I’m not a fan of horror so I was a little hesitant going into this book, but it surprised me. It’s an enjoyable fictional WWII era story starring a famous archaeologist, no not that one. While Dr Doran might remind you of other adventuring archaeologists, he is very much his own distinct character, with an interesting side job and perspective on the world.
While Cthulhu is a central theme, and I believed the monsters were scary if you were there, the descriptions had the right balance of convincing me they were scary without scaring ME. Which, I appreciated.

There’s some sound editing glitches, that happened often enough to start to annoy me but otherwise the performance was better than expected. I don’t think the sample really gives Patrick Harvey’s acting range justice. While his female voices weren’t the best, it’s largely a male dominated book so it doesn’t come up often. And his monster voices are excellent.
