Historia
In 1945, the Allied nations agreed on a judicial process, rather than summary execution, to determine the fate of the Nazis following the end of World War II. Held in Nuremberg, the ceremonial birthplace of the Nazi Party, the British, American, French, and Soviet leaders contributed both judges and prosecutors to the series of trials that would prosecute some of the most prominent politicians, military leaders, and businessmen in Nazi Germany.

Detailed!!
Revisado: 07-17-24
Taylor has gone into almost encyclopedic details! This is a good book, but definitely not a light read. The level of minutiae he goes into for somewhat trivial matters makes it a bit of a dense read. Once he got to the actual trial, the pace picked up substantially.

Historia
Susan Ronald, acclaimed author of Hitler’s Art Thief takes listeners into the shadowy world of the aristocrats and business leaders on both sides of the Atlantic who secretly aided Hitler and Nazi Germany. Hitler said, “I am convinced that propaganda is an essential means to achieve one’s aims.” Enlisting Europe’s aristocracy, international industrialists, and the political elite in Britain and America, Hitler spun a treacherous tale everyone wanted to believe: he was a man of peace. Central to his deception was an international high society Black Widow.

A good story told poorly....
Revisado: 06-10-22
Fascinating story, but the author certainly took his time getting to the point. Would have appreciated it more if he hadn't spend so much time guessing at the emotions that the characters "must have felt" during different times.

Historia
Drawing on previously unpublished eyewitness accounts, prizewinning historian Donald L. Miller has written what critics are calling one of the most powerful accounts of warfare ever published. Here are the horror and heroism of World War II in the words of the men who fought it, the journalists who covered it, and the civilians who were caught in its fury. Miller gives us an up-close, deeply personal view of a war that was more savagely fought - and whose outcome was in greater doubt - than one might imagine. This is the war that Americans on the home front would have read about had they had access to previously censored testimony.

Tragic. Horrifying. Necessary
Revisado: 06-07-21
This is truly an epic. It is tremendously difficult to listen to, but it should be. This is not a pretty story, but it does communicate a small fraction of the tragedy that was this time. These truths should never be forgotten. That is why books like these are necessary and even imperative to read.

Historia
The First World War is one of history’s greatest tragedies. In this remarkable and intimate account, author G. J. Meyer draws on exhaustive research to bring to life the story of how the Great War reduced Europe’s mightiest empires to rubble, killed 20 million people, and cracked the foundations of the world we live in today. World War I is unique in the number of questions about it that remain unsettled. After more than 90 years, scholars remain divided on these questions, and it seems likely that they always will.

Excellent
Revisado: 05-20-21
A fascinating and tragically detailed picture of a completely avoidable catastrophe. Meyer tells vividly of the lead up to the war and of how many times it could have been avoided. I learned so much that I didn't know. It is an excellent, excellent read.

interesting, but questions...
Revisado: 03-27-21
I found it interesting, but some of his details didn't match other historians. I'm not saying he is wrong, but I wish he had mentioned that there was more than one version of events in those cases.
