Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Hard science incorporated in book amazing!
Revisado: 02-02-22
The premise of the book is in tune with the experience of the current pandemic world except that the virus that is created by an intelligence travels throughout the universe. It threatens the earth. Its leaders create a totalitarian response that is needed to defeat it. In a twist, the responder finds an unlikely ally in an alien form. Great fun.

Economics is about Human incentives.
Revisado: 02-22-21
This is a book explains that economics is about human behavior. Human behavior is directed by incentives either artificially created by the government or naturally created by cooperating with each other in the marketplace. It explains that an artificially created incentive often results in unintended consequences. The reason is that incentives that are created by the government come from people who have limited and/or flawed knowledge. Ultimately these incentives or disincentives come at the point of a gun from the government. Government action is always coercive.

Historia
Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

This book was a piece of garbage.
Revisado: 09-09-16
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Any political left wing nut who wants to believe that somehow the call to arms is best addressed by fleeing from service.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Anything but this drivel.
How could the performance have been better?
The book was so bad the narrator's performance was ignored. The narrator should have chosen better material.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None. I had to stop reading as the story was not believable at all. It was overwhelmed by political content.

Revisado: 08-13-15
Would you listen to The Water Knife again? Why?
I would listen to the book again as it creates characters that you really care about in a apocalyptic setting.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Water Knife?
One of the most memorable moments was the surrender of Maria's body to the music and Sarah's boyfriend in the night club through the use of a hallucinogenic called "Bubble".
Have you listened to any of Almarie Guerra’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No

Audiobooks cheated me on the purchase
Revisado: 01-14-13
Would you try another book from Lee Child and/or Jonathan McClain?
Yes I love Lee Child's character Jack Reacher however the reading by McClain pales in comparison to Dick Hill. Dick Hill's voice is the voice of Jack Reacher. I had this book already in my library and I was not alerted by Audiobooks on the repurchase because of the new narrator who was second rate to Dick Hill.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
He was not Dick Hill and did not have the type of voice that enriched the character of Jack Reacher.
What character would you cut from Die Trying?
The performance of McClain

At the end of Shadow of the Giant, Bean flees to the stars with three of his children—the three who share the engineered genes that gave him both hyper-intelligence and a short, cruel physical life. The time dilation granted by the speed of their travel gives Earth's scientists generations to seek a cure, to no avail. In time, they are forgotten—a fading ansible signal speaking of events lost to Earth's history. But the Delphikis are about to make a discovery that will let them save themselves, and perhaps all of humanity in days to come.
