It starts with a shipwreck following a magical storm at sea. Horace, a soldier from the West, had joined the Great Crusade against the heathens of Akeshia after the deaths of his wife and son from plague. When he washes ashore, he finds himself at the mercy of the very people he was sent to kill, who speak a language and have a culture and customs he doesn't even begin to understand. Not long after, Horace is pressed into service as a house slave. But this doesn't last.

Boring story

I was just 2 hours to the end of this book, and decide to stop listening. As much as I enjoy Graphic Audio experience, this story is just too slow developed. without the map and glossary it's hard to understand where the events take place and what is really going on. The fact that there is a Male to Male attraction is happening between one of the main characters- I don't want to know how it will progress at all. I don't think the author had any passion creating this story. I am dropping it. I was hopping there is a potential. Very disappointing.

My ne favorite author!

I was very sceptical before downloading this book. I only did it because of the same full cast of narrators as in Riyria Revelation. I was absolutely consumed by this book after first 3 chapters. The traveling via Europe, that is familiar to me, I know it is an alternative history, but the cities names are correct from medieval times. the story events and relationships was so unpredictable and surprising. it is humorous, amusing, adventurous and violent story. I want more of it. And now i have an other favorite author after Michael J. Sullivan.
full cast did amazing job as usual! Graphic Audio is my favorite format!

I am a big fan of Outlander! Became big fan of Scottish hystory. Love this book and the story tellers- tallanted actors, with great sence of humor! Great journey guys! They should narrate more books together, and Sam should consider narrating children books too! I love to listen to Sam's voice and his accent! That was so much fun listening to both of them together, helarious! I hope they plan more projects like that. I really want more books like this!!!!
