Tabitha Walker is a black woman with a plan to "have it all." At 33 years old, the checklist for the life of her dreams is well underway. Education? Check. Good job? Check. Down payment for a nice house? Check. Dating marriage material? Check, check, and check. Then Tabby receives an unexpected diagnosis, jeopardizing the keystone she took for granted: having children.

I liked the book however it felt like it ended abruptly. I mean it probably is hard to find a common closure for these types of people and crimes but it just felt like it ended fast

Worth the listen but something missing
Revisado: 11-25-23
I discovered this book after falling into my own person journey on understanding life and death and challenging what I've been taught. While it was interesting it was written a little too much like a report. i appreciated the fact that it was a study and I understand why the stats are in there but they felt repetitive and awkwardly placed.

Eye Opening
Revisado: 11-25-23
I grew up watching Britney, the good and the bad. Now hearing what's was happening with her behind the scenes during different times in her life is heart breaking. Especially seeing the way it's effected her life to this day. If you love her or hate her it's a good read for any memoir fan.

infuriating
Revisado: 03-29-22
I've read a lot of bios and true crime. this was one of the hardest books I've ever read or listened to. The writer has experienced so much and the whole time I was listening I was screaming at the characters and just disgusted. While it's hard to read I do think the story is important and while graphic should be used as insight into the evil of sex trafficking

Imagine never being able to close your eyes and remember the feel of your mother’s arms wrapped around you. Now imagine closing your eyes and remembering your mother’s tears splashing down on your face as she is on top of you, crying as she is trying to choke you to death. My mother left me these memories and many more during my traumatic childhood. After many years of struggling with trying to understand "Why me?" I took back control of my life and started saying, "It was me, now what am I going to do?" The answer is my book, "Why Me?"

What if Atlantis wasn't a myth but an early precursor to a new age of great flooding? Across the globe, scientists and civilians alike are noticing rapidly rising sea levels and higher and higher tides pushing more water directly into the places we live, from our most vibrant, historic cities to our last remaining traditional coastal villages. With each crack in the great ice sheets of the Arctic and Antarctica and each tick upward of Earth's thermometer, we are moving closer to the brink of broad disaster.

This was such a good take on how cults can warp the minds of people. I love that the story was told from the point of view of all three women. It was soooo good. I listened to this on a long drive. It did not go the way I expected.
