Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Predictable
Revisado: 08-10-22
I only read this because my neighbor went on and on about it. I should've known better. It held my attention but had a predictable end. I wouldn't consider this "art" but rather "summer reading". Just ok.

Hate that it's SO racist.
Revisado: 08-10-22
All the racism really was hard to listen to but I did learn a lot I didn't know about the South after the war. Of course, I've seen this awesome movie, just never read the book.

Historia
The most popular and beloved American historical novel ever written, Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind is unparalleled in its portrayal of men and women at once larger than life but as real as ourselves. Now best-selling writer Alexandra Ripley brings us back to Tara and reintroduces us to the characters we remember so well: Rhett, Ashley, Mammy, Suellen, Aunt Pittypat, and, of course, Scarlett.

Definitely not Mitchel.
Revisado: 08-10-22
Of course, Margaret Mitchell never wrote the sequel so I supposed it's the best we could hope for. I'm thinking it was just ok. I thought the narrator sounded like a mature, older woman and feel this should been read by a "Scarlett" of the right age for the Scarlet in the book. Not really impressed.

Meh…
Revisado: 07-28-22
Not typical Cornwall. Loved all his others. A bit too confusing at the beginning because I didn’t realize that this Campion wasn’t the same as in the previous book which was also just so-so.

Historia
Mary Lennox starts her life as an unhappy victim of circumstance. After the loss of her parents, she moves to rural Yorkshire to live with a distant uncle where she resents the wildness of the countryside. At first, she struggles to find a place in this new existence. Although unsure about her surroundings and its occupants, through the gentle guidance of the maid she gradually becomes interested in the story of Mrs Craven, who apparently used to spend her time in a garden at the house, the key to which has vanished.

Historia
He was born to greatness, the son of a Druid bard and a princess of lost Atlantis. A trained warrior, blessed with the gifts of prophecy and song, he grew to manhood in a Britain abandoned by its Roman conquerors. He was to have a higher destiny: to prepare the way for the momentous event that would unite the Island of the Mighty - the coming of Arthur Pendragon, Lord of the Kingdom of Summer. This is the second book of The Pendragon Cycle.

Another good one from Stephen R. Lawhead
Revisado: 11-26-20
Lawhead is a good writer. He's descriptive and practically poetic in his prose. I really am enjoying this book except, again, as I reviewed in his previous book, Taliesin, I sincerely doubt that Merlin was a Christian. Perhaps wishful thinking on the author's part? Whatever...it's his story. That being said, I am not enjoying the narrator at all. He reminds me of an 1930's American actor trying to speak with a British accent. He sounds so fake and pretentious. I've never heard a Brit speak like this. Also, he tells the story in the first person however, when Merlin speaks, it's a completely different, more believable accent. I'm enjoying the story regardless and hoping the next in the trio has a different narrator.

In this revelatory, authoritative portrait of Donald J. Trump and the toxic family that made him, Mary L. Excellent!
Revisado: 07-15-20
Mary L. Trump offers no surprises here because we already knew that her uncle Donald was a monster. This is a well written history of how he got to be that way. The current president of the United States was "groomed" to be a narcissist by another narcissist, his father, Fred Trump and Donald bought it hook, line, & sinker. Now, we are all paying for his ignorance, his naiveté, his bravado, and his braggadocio. Goddamn Donald Trump and what he has done to our nation and goddamn the people who have enabled him.
