Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Wow!!

I am so thankful for this recommendation. A fantastic story told in a way that pulls you in completely. This is a story that needs to be told about the Vietnam War and what the women and all veterans went through in war. And the horrible way they were treated when they came home.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Good Information, Horrible Audio
Revisado: 07-27-22
Recording was Terrible. Sounded like narrator was using an old tin can and string connected to a microphone.
I agree “common” language is appropriate. But intelligent people should work to mostly avoid profanities. Sometimes f*!k is the right work. But this author appears to think it is almost always the right word.
Good information, I didn’t find anything groundbreaking or new. But pulled from many good sources and put together well.

Historia
A new generation is stepping up. There are now 26 millennials in Congress - a fivefold increase gained in the 2018 midterms alone. In The Ones We've Been Waiting For, Time correspondent Charlotte Alter defines the class of young leaders who are remaking the nation - how grappling with 9/11 as teens, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, occupying Wall Street and protesting with Black Lives Matter, and shouldering their way into a financially rigged political system has shaped the people who will govern the future.

Not what I was expecting
Revisado: 04-10-20
This is a lesson for me to read the summaries a little closer before committing hours of my life to a book. Was looking for a business minded book lending insight into how we can collaborate between very diverse generations. I feel this is a real problem in almost all business environments.
Unfortunately all the ideas in this book are that young people know everything, old people know nothing and Trump is evil.
Regret wasting a credit on this biased view of government should take care of everyone, the world is still (30 years later) going to end in 12 years due to global warming, and we all need to vote Democrat to fix everything millennial dribble.
But it is always interesting to listen to a millennial justify why everything they believe is truth.

Why I Am Not a Feminist

Historia
Are you a feminist? Do you believe women are human beings and that they deserve to be treated as such? That women deserve all the same rights and liberties bestowed upon men? If so, then you are a feminist...or so the feminists keep insisting. But somewhere along the way, the movement for female liberation sacrificed meaning for acceptance, and left us with a banal, polite, ineffectual pose that barely challenges the status quo. In this bracing, fiercely intelligent manifesto, Jessa Crispin demands more.

Disappointed I wasted a credit
Revisado: 02-27-17
I was hoping for something a bit more enlightened than the same old poor me drivel about how the world is ruled by men (got me with the title). The author is interested in equality of outcome not equality of opportunity. The woman's movement was for equal opportunity - which exists today, so the movement now has to move to equality of outcome to remain relevant. But equal opportunity (best person for job) and equal outcome (person for job must be a woman) are completely different equations.
Hopefully this is the worst book I listen to - would hate to spend any money or time on anything worse.

Interesting Title

I was interested in the book based on title & concept. Greatly disappointed. Continual reference to need for regulation because people are unreliable without acknowledgement to the fact that regulators are people.

If you enjoy this book you are an authoritarian and incapable of reasonable formation of an individual opinion. I will complete this book only because I paid for it (thankfully not much) and I am keeping hope alive that the author has some point in writing this book besides bashing people with whom he doesn't agree.
