Historia
The second novel in the wildly popular First Law Trilogy from New York Times best seller Joe Abercrombie. Superior Glokta has a problem. How do you defend a city surrounded by enemies and riddled with traitors, when your allies can by no means be trusted, and your predecessor vanished without a trace? It's enough to make a torturer want to run - if he could even walk without a stick. Northmen have spilled over the border of Angland and are spreading fire and death across the frozen country. Crown Prince Ladisla is poised to drive them back and win undying glory.

Great story and superb performance.
Revisado: 09-14-22
The story is well put together, managing to maintain the reader’s interest and engagement in all the different characters threads.
The voice actor is the best i’ve heard and really is pivotal in making this a great audiobook. I will be seeking out other productions he has been a part of.

Historia
Centuries after Connavar's triumphant battles against the invading army of Stone gained the Rigante their freedom, the clan finds itself oppressed once again. Magic that once flourished has been all but snuffed out. The Varlish king and his barons have stolen Rigante lands and robbed the people of their culture and liberty. From the Rigante's former seat of power the black-hearted Moidart rules; only in the north are the clansmen free.

Good, not great. Voice actor a lot to be desired
Revisado: 07-11-22
Closing of the Rigante Series with the weakest book in the series.
Still good however lacked the likeable charismatic character (like Jaim) and too many characters dropped or forgotten (Charra and Kaelin, who was a side character with no real close-out). Trying to redeem the Moidart after his life atrocities didn’t work.
The voice actor has a rich voice great for the narration however the men’s voices (of which there are many) sounded silly. Croaky, with no base, shrill and overly feminine.
Considering most of the voices are men they should have went with a male voice actor.
The Rigante are based off of the Scots. The Scottish accents employed for the north Rigante was really inaccurate.
Maeve and Kaelin have West Country accents, strange choice. Could have went with something akin to Glasgow or Edinburgh accent.

Great story and good narration. Voices/accents room for improvement.
Revisado: 07-04-22
Smaller in scope and scale than the Drenai stories and earlier Rigante books, it builds over time and has an immensely satisfying final third.
