Historia
Nineteen-year-old Karis has been blind since birth, but for some reason, she can see through the wall of smoke that separates the human lands from those of the Faeries that rule in grand courts on the other side. Most of the time, the only thing she can see on the other side of the wall is the swipe of a tail or the trailing of a bony hand along the surface. But one day, a handsome faerie appears and sweeps her away into his world, a world that is being ravaged by an evil so dark and deadly, she fears she may never see her home again.

Could have been better
Revisado: 01-28-24
The story was a great premise. The flow of the story seem to stutter in areas. The narrator was ho-hum. It could have been much better. Loved that the story was all wrapped up.

Too Slow and too Many long pauses
Revisado: 08-08-21
The narration was too slow and there were too many long pauses. I was listening to this at a speed of 1.5 and still the pauses were killing me. I might try to read this book, but don't waste an audible credit. There are far better books out there to use your credits on this.

Historia
At the height of WWII, five idealistic young Americans receive a mysterious letter from the OSS, asking them if they are willing to fight for their country. The men and women from very different backgrounds - a Texan athlete with German roots, an upper-crust son of a French mother and a wealthy businessman, a dirt-poor Midwestern fly fisherman, an orphaned fashion designer, and a ravishingly beautiful female fencer - all answer the call of duty, but each for a secret reason of his or her own. They bond immediately, in a group code-named Dragonfly.

I’ve never written a review of a book before this was a riveting, well told story, with wonderful narration that had me enthralled to the very end.

I enjoyed the book, especially the cheeky dialogue. Can’t wait for the next edition. This isn’t just for the young; I’m 49 and enjoyed the quick listen.

“It happened fast. Thirty-two minutes for one world to die, another to be born". An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy - abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued, and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. Revisado: 09-07-18
At first I didn't want to listen to yet another vampire book. But wow...this is not like any of the others I've read before. I really enjoyed it and the time went by in nothing flat. I'm ready to start the next book in the series. I'm invested in the characters and ready to see what happens next for them.

Historia
Struggling with working-mother guilt, Marlene Greene hopes a camping trip in the forest will provide quality time with her three young children - until they see fires in the distance, columns of smoke distorting the sweeping view. Overnight, all communication with the outside world is lost. Knowing something terrible has happened, Marlene suspects that the isolation of the remote campsite is all that's protecting her family. But the arrival of a lost boy reveals they are not alone in the woods, and as the unfolding disaster ravages the land, more youngsters seek refuge under her wing.

OK. Different. Give it a Try
Revisado: 05-26-18
The narrator did a great job; loved her. With regards to the book, the first 50% of the book I thought about getting my money back. My mind was often ahead of the characters actions. I was ready for action and she would still be mulling things over or agonizing over them. I found this very frustrating given the situation she was in. By the end of the book though I found myself reflecting back and wondering though if I had really been in her shoes would I have been as decisive and action oriented as I wanted the character to be. During the second half of the book the character became more decisive and we were not subjected to all the character's thoughts. I also don't like poor mothers and the characters mothering skills were somewhat questionable at the beginning. The end was suitable for the storyline and the character. The ending may be frustrating for those who like them summed up as happily ever after or 100% resolved.

A Brilliantly Done book
Revisado: 04-29-18
This was truly a wonderful story performed beautifully. I'm so grateful for writers like Gemma who can weave a sad time as WWII and Nazi Germany into a story with love and kindness richly woven into the trials so many experienced. The strength and voice given to all the characters will stay with me for a long time. It's a serious at times due to nature of Nazi Germany and what they did to Jews and others but well worth the investment of listening.

Historia
Joseph Ingram made the mistake of stealing from me - four million dollars. He took my intelligence without paying for it. And thought he could get away with it. Now I'll take something from him - something irreplaceable. His sister. Collateral. But even when Joseph doubles the amount of money he owes me, I don't give her up. Nope. I have an image to maintain. So I keep her. And I'm not giving her up.

Don't waste your time
Revisado: 04-20-18
It's written with unnecessary crude language. I don't object when it truly fits but it's like the author was trying to go for something really erotic but missed the boat. Also, the story is no where near being done, leaves you hanging on a 6 hr recording. Likely could have put two of the books together to give better resolution to story. This one literally ends with the couple walking out the door with their luggage on their way to somewhere...

Disappointing ending
Revisado: 04-03-18
What did you like best about this story?
That it wrapped up the series definitively
What does Kate Rudd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She gave a wonderful performance and colored the characters in a way I might not have if I had just read the book.
Any additional comments?
The ending was so disappointing. I get why she did it this way but I just cried and cried and was sad for several days. It was an ending that was so depressing.
