Historia
"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills.

Historia
Two words: the bullet. That's all it takes to shatter her life. Caroline Cashion is beautiful, intelligent, a professor of French literature. But in a split second, everything she's known is proved to be a lie. A single bullet, gracefully tapered at one end, is found lodged at the base of her skull. Caroline is stunned. It makes no sense: She has never been shot. She has no entry wound, no scar. Then, over the course of one awful evening, she learns the truth.

Where does The Bullet rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 10%
Which character – as performed by Cassandra Campbell – was your favorite?
Main character, Catherine.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
This book was fun to listen to. It was not slow and the characters were well-developed. It took twists and turns and was mostly true to real life. The last quarter of the book seemed a bit over the top but it was still in the realm of fun. Having the reader know French so well was a big plus.

I truly like the main charecter
Revisado: 07-11-15
What made the experience of listening to Norwegian by Night the most enjoyable?
The main character is remarkable and very memorable. Long after I listened to the book I still think of him. If he was real, I'd have liked to have met him.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Norwegian by Night?
The memorable part of the story for me was the runaway. That was great.

Historia
Jack Wade, a claims adjuster for California Fire and Life Mutual Insurance Company, is one of the best arson investigators around. He's a man who knows fire, who can read the traces it leaves behind like a roadmap. When he's called in to examine an unusual claim, the tracks of the fire tell him that something's wrong. So wrong that he violates his own cardinal rule - "You don't get personal, you don't get emotional. Whatever you do, you don't get involved" - and plunges into the case.

Would you consider the audio edition of California Fire and Life to be better than the print version?
I don't know. I don't have the print version.
What did you like best about this story?
Winslow's protaganist can get nasty when he has to, but deep down, he's a really nice guy. I liked him.

Historia
The year is 2008 and Samantha Kofer's career at a huge Wall Street law firm is on the fast track - until the recession hits and she gets downsized, furloughed, escorted out of the building. Samantha, though, is one of the "lucky" associates. She's offered an opportunity to work at a legal aid clinic for one year without pay, after which there would be a slim chance that she'd get her old job back. In a matter of days Samantha moves from Manhattan to Brady, Virginia, population 2,200, in the heart of Appalachia, a part of the world she has only read about.

Technical but fun
Revisado: 12-05-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend it only to people who have an interest in the law, technical or scientific areas, and the Appalachians.
Any additional comments?
At times, the "victimhood" story line just would not let up, and got tiresome. Overall though, it was interesting, combining action, relationships and a professional technicalities. It twisted in interesting ways while developing the main character.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
It was a long, long time getting to the Potato Factory. Ikie's character developed along the way, but it took too much description to get there.

Historia
A highly decorated captain in the U.S. Army, Luis Montalvan never backed down from a challenge during his two tours of duty in Iraq. After returning home, however, the pressures of his physical wounds, traumatic brain injury, and post-traumatic stress disorder began to take their toll. In constant physical pain, he soon found himself unable to climb a simple flight of stairs or face a bus ride to the VA hospital. He drank; he argued; he cut himself off from those he loved. Then Luis met Tuesday, a beautiful and sensitive golden retriever....

Understanding PTSD
Revisado: 09-19-14
If you could sum up Until Tuesday in three words, what would they be?
Dog helps veteran
Which scene was your favorite?
At one point, Luis could not get Tuesday to obey while at a demonstration of the dogs' abilities. He then knelt down and put his forehead to Tuesday's and they stayed there until they were both calm. That was so touching, and a moment that I won't forget.
Any additional comments?
This book really helps you to understand Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and its effects. I was not aware that hypervigilance was one of the symptoms, and I had never thought of the aftereffects on a person with PTSD of little incidents that other people shrug off. This is a very informative book in an easy to listen to format. Luis really loves his dog.

It was okay
Revisado: 09-19-14
Any additional comments?
I'm not sure about this one. I read that it was funny, but I only found a few places where I chuckled. I guess I don't understand Scottish humor. It was an interesting story that seems to have no real ending for a few of the characters. For me, it was sort of like a sitcom without the chuckles. I guess it was just not my style.
