Helped me out of a spiral of self-doubt
Revisado: 04-23-20
This book was the last to help me turn a corner in self empowerment. It helped me to (1) face my beliefs about my self/ life, (2) investigate how those beliefs serve me, and then (3) reinvent those beliefs to better coincide with how I want to feel/ live/ be. If you're looking to resent your life a little less, and are willing to take an introspective approach, this is a quality read. It walks you through imagining, then believing, that you can change & overcome in the first place. Some readers argue that this isn't practical, but I say it depends on how you employ your imagination in everyday life. In my experience, self-encouraging thoughts are sometimes the ONLY tool I have to endure difficult or painful situations until I can take further action.
As solemn as my description sounds, You're A Badass is written (and narrated) in a very playful tone. It invites the reader to /not/ treat their journey so clinically (as some self help books do) and to enjoy the ride. I laughed a lot while reading it. Also, I did not think the cursing felt edgy or forced, but maybe I'm just accustomed to more profanity than other readers.
Happy Reading!
