Historia
Until the End of Time is Brian Greene's breathtaking new exploration of the cosmos and our quest to find meaning in the face of this vast expanse. Greene takes us on a journey from the big bang to the end of time, exploring how lasting structures formed, how life and mind emerged, and how we grapple with our existence through narrative, myth, religion, creative expression, science, the quest for truth, and a deep longing for the eternal.

A Beautifully0vu Written Book
Revisado: 07-22-21
A romp across cosmology, culture, consciousness, and fate. If I could ask Brian Greene one question, it would be why the absence of anything but matter in the material universe compels him to dismiss the possibility of the extra-material? Why does the fact that the universe operates according to discoverable natural laws incline him to dismiss the possibility of a Creator rather than embrace it. Now he may well be right. But much like, as Pascal urged, the greatest function of reason is that it teaches us that there are things reason can't do, the failure find evidence of God in the study of nature is like asking nature to do something nature can't do. As the old country song goes, it's Looking for Love in all the Wrong Places.
I don't know icI will ever get far enough all to constuct a particularized concept of God., and his bargain with humanity. But as I surveyed the same vast universe Dr. Greene does, it's just a bit more difficult to believe it and other universes if they exist just sprang into being on its own. How could it just "be"? For me, that requires the greater leap of fate.

Historia
In the early 19th century, many Americans were looking for an alternative to the Puritanism that had been the foundation of the new country. Amid the fervor of the religious revival known as the Second Great Awakening, John Humphrey Noyes, a spirited but socially awkward young man, attracted a group of devoted followers with his fiery sermons about creating Jesus' millennial kingdom here on Earth.

Time Well Spent
Revisado: 08-29-16
Especially in light of the "Burning", this book serves an important purpose in its encyclopedic account of the history of Oneida, which is at times incompatible with crisp story telling. By the end, the reader will feel rewarded for granting the author this indulgence. Most 21st century Americans lack sufficient appreciation for the explosion of free thinking and radical experimentation occasioned by our liberation from the English monarchy. This book will cure that deficiency.
