Historia
Former trapeze artist Amalie Vaughn moved to Burning Cove to reinvent herself, but things are not going well. After spending her entire inheritance on a mansion with the intention of turning it into a bed-and-breakfast, she learns too late that the villa is said to be cursed. When the first guest, Dr. Norman Pickwell, is murdered by his robot invention during a sold-out demonstration, rumors circulate that the curse is real.

Good story that would have greatly benefited from a better editor (one armed with a thesaurus)

Another fun adventure from one of my go-to authors, but wow! Holy over-use of the word "evidently," Batman!
I suppose I didn't really notice when I was reading a print copy of the book, or at least I was able to skip over the annoyingly over-used vocabulary, but it really stood out in the audio format. It really pulled my focus from an otherwise good story.

Historia
Ayla and Jondalar set out on horseback across the windswept grasslands of Ice Age Europe. To the hunter gatherers of their world - who have never seen tame animals - Ayla and Jondalar appear enigmatic and frightening.

Excellent Book. Mildly Annoying Narration.

I have loved these books for decades. I've read and reread them multiple times over the years. This time I decided I didn't want to lug around the heavy paper books, so I bought the audiobook series on sale.
I got through the 1st 3 3/4 books quite well, with only a few names pronounced differently than I had been saying them in my head, but but once Ayla and Jondalar reached the Lanzadonii, and the introductions started, the pronunciations became more and more irritating and completely distracting. I'm debating with myself about whether or not I even want to continue listening to the series.
