Interesting. Light-hearted. Utterly pleasant in all of its Botswanan delights. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, excellent narrator, and interest-piquing storyline. Well done!

This best seller tells of the young Dutch factory worker's incredible efforts to transport Bibles across closed borders - and the miraculous ways in which God provided for him every step of the way. Brother Andrew's story remains as inspiring today as it was 35 years ago, and with this new release, it will motivate a whole new generation to risk everything to follow God's call.

Incredible story! Incredible narrator! Incredible Brother Andrew!
Revisado: 09-26-19
Wow, what an incredible book. I’ve seen it atop so many recommended book lists. And now I can see why. I knew absolutely nothing about this book beforehand except for its high recommendations. Narrator Simon Vance is one of my favorites. Between him and the inimitable person of Brother Andrew, the story pulls one in immediately. What an excellent use of six hours of one’s time. And the best news is that the story continues by following Open Doors on their various social media platforms.

Historia
An endearing adventure of the Arnold Pent family who followed an unconventional path as what some have called "the first modern home school family". In the early 1950s, Arnold Pent, Jr., and his wife Persis took their eight children out of public schools and began a million mile journey throughout the US and Canada together. Along the way, they presented their gospel message in churches, schools, and wherever they had opportunity.

A Story You Won’t Soon Forget
Revisado: 07-30-19
Such a great story. A story about family, faith, traveling, and of course, the Bible! What an impression; a family that reads the Bible together three times every day (not including each family member’s personal 30 to 60-minute devotional time), and travels around the country as a family of 10. This story is written and read by the second son (third child) and is full of adventures and impossibilities. “What man says is not nearly as important as what God says.”

A delightful story, read by a masterful narrator—she added so much to and enhanced the experience with her authentic British and Scottish accents and pronunciations. Absolutely masterful. What a wonderful read.

Historia
In 1914, the war which was to have been wrapped up by Christmas had - in reality - only just begun, as all sides entrenched themselves deeper into the Great War. Christmas Eve, 1914 follows one company of British officers as they rotate forward to spend their Christmas on the front lines, a mere 80 yards from the German guns. Upper- and working-class men and boys are thrown together into one trench and struggle to survive.

Historia
When Lawrence Anthony learned that the northern white rhino, living in the war-ravaged Congo, was on the very brink of extinction, he knew he had to act. If the world lost the sub-species, it would be the largest land mammal since the woolly mammoth to go extinct. In The Last Rhinos, Anthony recounts his attempts to save these remarkable animals. The demand for rhino horns in the Far East has turned poaching into a dangerous black market that threatens the lives of not just these rare beasts, but also the rangers who protect them.

Sooooooo good!
Revisado: 09-23-18
Simon Vance is perfection in telling this, and Lawrence Anthony’s other two books (Babylon’s Ark and the Elephant Whisperer). Gripping, compelling non-fiction stories that will leave you immersed, and wanting more. I can truly say I am a changed person because of these true stories—for the better. What a legacy Lawrence Anthony has left behind. He’s an inspiration, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have known him through Simon Vance’s brilliant performance—and Graham Spence’s crisp co-authorship. Such an honor. A visit to Anthony’s South African wildlife preserve is now definitely on my bucket list!
