Historia
A soldier, former member of Congress, and a presidential candidate, Tulsi loves her country: "I answered the call of duty and took an oath, dedicating my life to supporting and defending those freedoms, both in uniform and in public office. I became a Democrat when I ran for office because I saw them as a party that stood up for the little guy and against the interests of big business and warmongers. I remained a Democrat for twenty years, albeit with an independent streak." Today that party is unrecognizable.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

A Fascinating Story
Revisado: 08-26-21
I read by listening. I listen via Audible. I listened to this book specifically because of the way it was being read. I don't know anything about Matthew McConaughey except that he is an actor but I cannot tell you one movie he's been in. But I saw this title in Audible and saw that it was read by the author and I clicked on the Sample. I live the way he read this book.
He didn't read it as much as he just told the story of his life up to this point. He "read" the book like he knew what was in it before the words came out of his mouth. He read this book like I have always thought authors who present their own work ought to read it.
The content is about him. You will get to know who he is by reading/listening to this book. I believe you will know him better if you listen to him, so I recommend the audio version of the book.
He seems like a remarkable man who is dedicated to what he lives and believes. And he tells you both. He is crude and vulgar and raw and interesting and intellectual. I recommend his story.

Here is the astonishing, never-before-told story of the greatest rescue mission of World War II: when the OSS set out to recover more than 500 airmen trapped behind enemy lines. During a bombing campaign, hundreds of American airmen were shot down in Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia. Local Serbian villagers risked their own lives to give refuge to the soldiers, and for months the airmen lived in hiding, waiting for rescue.

Historia
When the war finally ended in May 1945, Lieutenant Danny McClain made good on his promise to come back for Anya in Holland. He expected her to put up a fight but instead found her exhausted and utterly broken. Maybe it was unfair, asking her to marry him when she was so vulnerable. But this much he knew: He would spend a lifetime helping to make her whole again. The war had taken everything from Anya - her family, her friends, her home, her faith. She clung to the walls she'd fortressed around her heart, but what future did she have apart from Danny?

Historia
The rumblings of war in distant countries mattered little to Danny McClain. Growing up in Chicago, his world revolved around afterschool jobs, a rescued beagle, his pen pal in Holland, and the Cubs' chance to go to the World Series. Then, in December of 1941, news of the attack on Pearl Harbor hit much too close to home. In a few years, Danny found himself in the copilot seat of a B-17, stationed with the 390th Bomb Group in Framlingham, England.

A Very Pleasant Story of Love And War
Revisado: 08-12-20
I liked this book. The story is interesting and clean. I had read some negative reviews on Goodreads saying that the reviewers felt like this was written for young readers. I'm guessing that is because of the the lack of vulgarity and sex.
This is just a wholesome story if a family drawn into war. And specifically a boy who becomes a man.
It is predictable. There are some inconsistencies and overused expressions. But it is enjoyable.

Revisado: 08-07-20
I highly recommend Evidence Not Seen: A Woman's Miraculous Faith in the Jungles of World War II. It is the story of Darlene Deibler Rose, a missionary to Papua New Guinea who was taken as a POW by the Japanese in WWII.
She was a true woman of faith who had only God to depend on.

Historia
Ty Cobb is baseball royalty, maybe even the greatest player who ever lived. His lifetime batting average is still the highest of all time, and when he retired in 1928, after twenty-one years with the Detroit Tigers and two with the Philadelphia Athletics, he held more than ninety records. But the numbers don't tell half of Cobb's tale. The Georgia Peach was by far the most thrilling player of the era: "Ty Cobb could cause more excitement with a base on balls than Babe Ruth could with a grand slam," one columnist wrote.

Not What I Was Expecting
Revisado: 07-18-20
I chose this book because of the description saying this was about the most decorated spy in WWII. I figured that there would be takes of how she earned that distinction. Well this book really doesn't do that.
Two thirds of the book deals with what supposedly happened to her after she was captured. I was surprised at how soon the capture took place and wondered if I had missed the great things Odette had done, so I listened to the book again up to he point of capture. Still nothing.
The reader did a good job. That is about the best thing I can say about the book.
So I don't recommend this title if you actually want to know about the spy activities of this lady. I am planning on returning it to reclaim my Audible credit.
