Historia
"They Say / I Say" identifies the key rhetorical moves in academic writing, showing students how to frame their arguments in the larger context of what others have said and providing templates to help them make those moves. And, because these moves are central across all disciplines, the audiobook includes chapters on writing in the sciences, writing in the social sciences, and - new to this edition - writing about literature.

Hard to Listen to....
Revisado: 08-16-15
Would you listen to "They Say / I Say" again? Why?
This book was probably better in print, but the framework is a good model for teaching young students how to write more effectively. The audiobook was hard to track and difficult to follow their writing samples and examples.

Historia
In Players First, John Calipari relates for the first time anywhere his experiences over his first four years coaching the Kentucky Wildcats, college basketball's most fabled program, from the doldrums to a national championship, drawing lessons about leadership, character, and the path to personal and collective victory. At its core, Calipari's coaching philosophy centers on keeping his focus on the players - what they need to get the best out of themselves and one another.

A Calipari Convert....
Revisado: 08-16-15
What did you love best about Players First?
I was never a fan of Coach Cal, in fact, I dispised him. HOWEVER, after listening to this book I am a convert. He talks about past and current players, gives great perspectives on teaching and coaching young men, and offers opinions on NCAA policies. I am now actually a fan of Coach Cal. Surprised to hear myself say that.

Yikes.
Revisado: 08-16-15
What would have made Beyond Basketball better?
A little boring. It seemed like a series of buzzwords strung together with dry commentary following each of them. I am a fan of self-improvement books, especially those by coaches and sports figures. I could not finish this one.

You already know how you see yourself and the world. But how does the world see you? If you want to be heard and remembered, if you want people to take action on your ideas and opinions, then you need to get the full picture.

Nice Job Tony.
Revisado: 08-16-15
What made the experience of listening to Quiet Strength the most enjoyable?
It was exactly what I thought it would be. I have enjoyed listening to Tony Dungy on ESPN and watching him coach through out the years. This book felt like I sat down and had a Sunday morning cup of coffee with him.
Any additional comments?
If you have listened to him talk, it takes a lot to get him excited. The book is read by coach Dungy, which means that it maintains the same soft-spoken tone from start to finish. If you listen to it for a long time, your attention will wander if you are not careful.

Where is this going?
Revisado: 08-16-15
What disappointed you about Natural Born Heroes?
Loved Born to Run, so maybe I was hoping for a second coming of the barefoot runner's manifesto, but this book dragged on and on with no destination in sight. Loved his first book, but couldn't catch lightening in a bottle twice.
Would you ever listen to anything by Christopher McDougall again?
Yes, of course. I would give him another try, but I could not finish this one.

Historia
In this age of billion dollar athletic marketing campaigns, “feel good” philosophy with no connection to reality, and a Sports Media echo chamber that’s all too eager swallow whatever idiotic notion happens to be in vogue at the moment, it’s tough to find people who aren’t afraid to say what they’re really thinking.
