Historia
The lives of Leonardo da Vinci, Henry VIII, and Queen Victoria fill bookshelves and fascinate scholars all over the world. But little attention is given to the ferret who posed for the Renaissance master, the servant who oversaw the Tudor’s toilet time, or the famous horse who thrilled the miserable old monarch. These supporting cast members have been waiting in the wings for too long, and Adrian Bliss thinks it’s high time they join their glory-hogging contemporaries in the spotlight. Fortunately, now they can.

Light, humorous, and creatively educational
Revisado: 11-11-24
Such dry wit and such great readers - highly recommended for when you need a mood lift. And you may even learn an obscure historical fact or two...!

Historia
For millennia plant and animal species have received little sustained attention as subjects of Christian theology and ethics in their own right. Focused on the human dilemma of sin and redemptive grace, theology has considered the doctrine of creation to be mainly an overture to the main drama of human being`s relationship to God. What value does the natural world have within the framework of religious belief?

excellent synthesis
Revisado: 07-21-24
This book was an excellent synthesis of both the scientific and theological justifications for ecological preservation. At times it was very dense, and I could only listen in small doses. But it was very thought-provoking and I highly recommend it. It may be of particular interest to Christians who believe in the "seamless garment" approach to the preserving dignity of life, but the information is useful to anyone.

But just days before his release, Laura and Shadow's best friend are killed in an accident. With his life in pieces and nothing to keep him tethered, Shadow accepts a job from a beguiling stranger he meets on the way home, an enigmatic man who calls himself Mr. Wednesday.

A great story about humans and the nature of worship
Revisado: 07-19-24
A great story (and sociological observation) about humans and their objects of worship. Who is dependent upon whom? Who exists for whom? What happens when the focuses of worship shift and battle each other for attention - for survival? The voice acting in this edition is wonderful and engaging. Highly recommended.

Hard time finishing
Revisado: 03-11-23
I am not someone who is opposed to Fr. Richard Rohr's approach to Catholicism, but I did have a hard time finishing this. Somehow seemed a bit dated? Not sure. I am glad it resonated for others.

Great listen
Revisado: 02-04-23
Despite a very few cringe-inducing remarks that didn't age well (gender stereotypes and a racial reference that are very outdated), this is a very interesting listen and I found my head nodding in agreement frequently. Don't expect to agree on all points, but most of it is a good reminder, in particular for those who identify as Christian, about the meaning, message, and lived experience of Christianity.
