Historia
Virginia Howes was a mother of four doing the ironing when she had a revelation. Still broody, but not really wanting to add to her family, she realised that becoming a midwife was her true vocation. It was a long journey to get the education and qualifications she needed, especially with a young family, but she was determined and never doubted her decision. Following her training, she spent three years working within the NHS, but her naturally independent spirit fought against the constraints of the system and 12 years ago she decided to set up on her own.

Lovely

I just loved this book so much, I was sad when it was over! I am a student homebirth midwife and a single mom and found so much of her book relatable. I loved the way she remembered her clients birth stories, and the relationships she built with them. I also loved to hear about her personal life and the ups and downs. It’s also well written! Btw, I have a howes mirror 💫

Historia
Etta comes from Nowhere, a village of survivors of the great plague that wiped away the world that was. In the world that is, women are scarce and childbearing is dangerous...yet desperately necessary for humankind's future. Mothers and midwives are sacred, but Etta has a different calling.

Super disappointed

“ Where are you right now” will forever be echoing in my head with the most annoying accent ever. That stupid phrase in that stupid voice is enough to make me not like it.
But that aside, it was hard to follow. Things seemed to jump from one scene or chapter to the next abruptly.
If I wanted to listen ti a book about struggling with gender identity and sexuality if look for it. I was not looking for it though, and that’s alllllll this book was about, with an afterthought of the first book splashed in.
The ending was horrible too. Whole book was anticlimactic
