Historia
A pause-resisting, existential romp through the life and times of the world’s most polarizing punctuation mark. Through her rollicking biography of the semicolon, Watson writes a guide to grammar that explains why we don’t need guides at all and refocuses our attention on the deepest, most primary value of language: true communication.

Great research into the life of the semicolon; written with humor and a touch of sarcasm here and there.
Pam Ward did an outstanding job of narration; making a wonderful text come to like.

More than 2,000 men, women, and children are on board. Here on the first-class promenade is millionaire John Jacob Astor, who hopes his return from Egypt with his pregnant teen bride will invite a minimum of media attention. And here, in the third-class common room, a beautiful Lebanese refugee, on her way to family in Florida, discovers first love. And there in the distance, shrouded in darkness, an ancient iceberg lies patient, awaiting its encounter.

Uncomfortable subject handled gently
Revisado: 04-15-19
It was eerie to hear the voices, from real life and fictional characters as they were on an unknown journey, to their deaths. The monologues were perfect for revealing the characters makeup. I felt I knew them well enough to form a slight emotional bond, which made the historically known ending feel like losing a fellow passenger on a recent cruise.
The Titanic hit “the ice” on my birthday, which as always made a extra connection for me with her sinking in the early hours of the following day.
Getting back to the work, the writing was very good and the monologues gently paced you on the 5 days of Titanic’s first and only voyage. The final chapter gives the real life biographies of the real characters and who the fictional characters were representing. The character “the ice” had some very chilling monologues (I just had to write that😏).
All over a good work, which is why I give it a very strong three stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️!

A lot in a short work ...
Revisado: 03-19-19
Very good character/scene narratives, I was surprised considering the overall length of the work. A classic tale, but with a modern touch and some technology added in.
Great listen for those fans of the Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, or the glory days of radio dramas.
I gave it 4s across the board because it was definitely above average, just not quite totally awesomely excellent. 😉

Outstanding melding of facts and character ...
Revisado: 03-09-19
I feel like I now know the man behind the madman as best can be. Simon’s research was comprehensive and well sourced. I detected a desire to make a shall we saying boring, cold academic, and clinical project come to life. The reader was given an observational “bird’s eye” view into the processes with a good behind the scenes look, which created the monumental work of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED).
I would recommend this work to those who have a keen interest in language, word history, lexicon development, as well as unusual facts and bits that when into the making of the OED. The appendix interview at the end was a nice touch.
My rating of 3 stars is for a book that is a good read with many above average features. Although, I didn’t rate the work as above average, it was hard to lay down. I wanted to know the next development as if following the trail of a good mystery novel. The research and attention to detail was above average and got 4 stars for the story. For me, I like author performances in many genres. Simon’s performance was steady and certainly above average so I gave it 4 stars.

I like the way Will’s easy smooth presentation of his findings and passion for underground places carries the reader along. This made it clear, to someone like myself who has little experience or studies in the depths of the earths natural and man made dwellings. I would recommend it to everyone with a curiosity for underground places, who wants to more than just scratch the surface for an unintimidated look at the history, people, and locations of earth’s underground spaces.

Historia
Life is chaotic. But we can choose to live it differently. It doesn’t always feel like it, but we do have the freedom to creatively change the everyday little things in our lives so that our path better aligns with our values and passions. The popular blogger and founder of the internationally recognized Simple Mom online community tells the story of her family’s ongoing quest to live more simply, fully, and intentionally. It’s a risky ride, but it’s worth it - living your life according to who you really are simply takes a little intention. It’s never too late.

Nothing earth shattering but ...
Revisado: 02-17-19
The “principles” can be found in 1000s of other places. The presentation, and the message’s anchor truths left this listener with several questions of interpretation. I felt the entire story could have been presented in a much less lengthy bundle, about 2 plus hours less. On a much more positive side, the principles gathered are what many reader/listener needs to sort out their current living and financial situations. Having said such, it does make the finding and gathering process as simple as point, click, and buy the book.

Aesop's Fables

Historia
The fables of Aesop have become one of the most enduring traditions of European culture, ever since they were first written down nearly two millennia ago. Aesop was reputedly a tongue-tied slave who miraculously received the power of speech; from his legendary storytelling came the collections of prose and verse fables scattered throughout Greek and Roman literature.

Oh no, they didn’t ...
Revisado: 01-01-19
But they did! The quality of the recording was terrible. At multiple times you could hear a phone ringing in the background; the foreground vocalist was recorded with a faint echo that was very distracting to say the least. Several of the fables were recorded twice at different locations.
One note on the positive side, Aesop’s fables are available in other formats and quality recordings- unlike this one!

A classic that hasn't aged out.
Revisado: 04-14-15
A excellent devotional/inspirational classic that tells the beauty of obedience with devotion to the will/purpose of God for our life's here on earth. In words that challenge the stereotype of blind obedience, for the sake of obedience, because it is just one of the required checkboxes on the this list of what we must do.
Instead we are called into an acceptance of commands because of love.
We accept God's will; then willingly present ourselves, out of love driven obedience, to follow God's will.
Our obedience, which is nurtured by our love and devotion to God for His first loving us bears fruits as the relationship deepens. Hence greater obedience produces more love. Therefore, more fruit is born and the cycle continues deeper into a stronger relationship that blooms from a higher love of greater obedience, while the fruit of this labor of love continues to deepening.
“The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” - John 12:25
