Loved It Till She Turned Hateful at the End
Revisado: 04-29-24
I absolutely loved hearing from Barbra herself. She's funny, smart and great to listen to. I didn't mind listening to all the minutia as she had a way of making it sound interesting. She really turned me off big time at the end where she turned holier-than-though and very hateful to all things Trump. Hello, I loved that Trump was our President and thought he did a great job and will vote for him again. I believe he is a good man. Please keep in mind that you have other listeners who adore your music other than liberals. What a turn-off. She talks about other hateful people and yet totally rips into all things Trump. I'm not here to defend Trump but to defend MY RIGHT to enjoy Mr. Donald Trump as President. Don't get me started on the last two moronic liberal 'President's' -- I stomached her fawning over her political favorites but she went too far by bad-mouthing Mr. Trump. Shut and Sing!

Politics Leaks In so it's OK
Revisado: 08-01-22
So many of us are affected by Parkinson's so I appreciated his insight and description of his personal journey with this insidious disease. What I didn't appreciate were the sublime, try to be sly, slip in insults towards President Trump. As someone who cares about the direction America is taking and who voted for President Trump, as a listener, I did not appreciate Michael insulting my appreciation for the President that loves America. I'm truly sorry for his young Parkinson's ; such a devastating state of health for anyone to take on.
Overall it was a worthwhile listen but I won't be purchasing his other books as I can't take one more Hollywood 'celebrity' sneaking in their liberal mindset while insulting the fabric of what I love about America. God be with you and your lovely family Michael.

Historia
Brooke Shields never had what anyone would consider an ordinary life. She was raised by her Newark-tough single mom, Teri, a woman who loved the world of show business and was often a media sensation all by herself. Brooke's iconic modeling career began by chance when she was only 11 months old, and Teri's skills as both Brooke's mother and her manager were formidable. But in private she was troubled and drank heavily.

Captivating!
Revisado: 06-06-22
I never would have thought that I would laugh out loud while someone described their parent as leaving but there I was cracking up as Brooke lovingly explained the brutal truth behind the slow demise of someone leaving this earth. My heart ached for her as she eventually revealed the moment when her mother actually did leave this earth.
From beginning to end this is an endearing love story, told with brutal honesty mixed in with a healthy dose of humor. Surprisingly I could relate to Brooke on many levels! We are similar in age, so we experienced the decades in a similar fashion. I too have a family member that is an addict that has disrupted the family dynamics yet I still love him. Many times as she expressed her emotions both sad and happy, I found myself thinking, "That's OK Brooke, I hear you".
Thank you Brooke for taking the time to lay out this heart-felt story of your life...thus far. May blessings chase you to the very end!

Anyone who has seen Sharon Gless act in Cagney & Lacey, Queer as Folk, Burn Notice, and countless other shows and movies, knows that she’s someone who gives every role her all. She holds nothing back in Apparently There Were Complaints, a hilarious, deeply personal memoir that spills all about Gless’s five decades in Hollywood.

Apparently this is one hell of a memoir!
Revisado: 03-10-22
Best narration I have heard in a long time, she really brings the stories to life. I found myself cracking up throughout the entire listen. There are more interesting lives to listen to but none recorded and narrated as well as Sharon did. She let us take a peak into all facets of her life from early home life, to career, love life and friendships. I found her bond with her agent very moving. I never really watched Cagney and Lacy as it just wasn't of interest to me and I really can't recall any movies or shows that I've seen her in but I found myself very interested in her story from beginning to end; I was sorry when the book ended. Thanks Sharon!

One Sided View but Insightful From Her POV
Revisado: 07-15-21
This was a well-performed, well-produced listen. If you don't drink Sinead's Kool-Aide you'll enjoy it more. I appreciate her view on life but if only she could have not mentioned President Trump in her Epilog. Oh well, U.S. Patriots are used to know-nothings spouting off on how they would run the world and trying to convince the rest of us to whom we should be proud of.
Hatred towards President Trump, Dr. Phil and others aside, I did enjoy this listen. I enjoyed listening to the journey of her life from youth to where she stands today. She has endured and produced much good for this world. I wish her all the best.

Historia
For most of her adult life, Joan Crawford was a star who dedicated herself entirely to her career. But since her death, her luster has been tarnished. Here, at last, is a biography that sets the record straight. In her heyday, Joan Crawford was probably the most imitated woman in the world. Magazine covers featured her face, and high school and college girls copied her makeup and clothing. Born Lucille Fay LeSueur in Kansas City, she spent her childhood on the edge of poverty.

Historia
In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

Very Engaging
Revisado: 11-22-20
I'm not a huge fan but I do appreciate a couple of his songs. I find his self-important political views nauseating but I thought I would give his story a listen...I'm glad I did. His holier-than-though, I'm everyman, poked through here and there but overall the story was very interesting and engaging. I loved the fact that Bruce narrated. The story of his life was broke down into very tasty bite-size, make-sense bits and pieces. He delved into a various areas of his life which really draws the reader in. Overall I highly recommend this book.

Historia
Fusing the narrative power of an award-winning novelist and the detailed research of an experienced investigator, author Darcy O'Brien unfolds the story of Dr. John Dale Cavaness, the southern Illinois physician and surgeon charged with the murder of his son Sean in December 1984. Outraged by the arrest of the skilled medical practitioner who selflessly attended to their needs, the people of Little Egypt, as the natives call their region, rose to his defense. But during the subsequent trial, a radically different, disquieting portrait of Dr. Cavaness would emerge.

Well-Written and well-performed
Revisado: 08-09-20
Ann Rule (RIP) was my favorite true-crime writer because she knew how to craft the story of the criminals and victims. I didn't feel like a creepy voyeur when reading her books. Darcy O'Brien reminds me of that well-written, well-crafted story-teller. This listen was so well laid out that I could follow everything that was unfolding. There were a lot of little bits of facts here and there that I was not aware of. Facts about the location, the time period this crime took place, the culture, the gruesome crime scene, etc.
The book was read by Perry Daniels...of whom I am now a fan of! I could fully understand everything that he said. He has a nice timbre and tone to his voice.

Since its first show in 2010, The Last Podcast on the Left has barreled headlong into all things horror, as hosts Henry Zebrowski, Ben Kissel, and Marcus Parks cover subjects spanning Jeffrey Dahmer, werewolves, Jonestown, and supernatural phenomena. Deeply researched but with a morbidly humorous bent, the podcast has earned a dedicated and aptly cult-like following for its unique take on all things macabre.

Interesting Yet Incredibly Irritating
Revisado: 06-09-20
We've all heard about most of these monsters but a few new POS are displayed in this interesting read. Be prepared to hear gory details. The baseline narrator is excellent with his clear, baritone and excellent enunciation but OMG, there is what sounds like a backwoods 12 year old boy interrupting all throughout the book. I would just flip my dial on the volume to 0 when, at the end of each chapter, this goofy, supposed to be funny guy gives a supposed to be humorous epilogue to each chapter. Towards the very end of the book with the last hour left, the depravity must have got to me as I found myself giggling at some of the jokes that the annoying guy would interject with. I get it, that's their spiel, to sound like a Wayne's World, vs of what is going on with murders, but OY, those epilogue's can really get to you.

In 2014, Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes was widely seen as the next Steve Jobs: a brilliant Stanford dropout whose startup “unicorn” promised to revolutionize the medical industry with its breakthrough device, which performed the whole range of laboratory tests from a single drop of blood. Backed by investors such as Larry Ellison and Tim Draper, Theranos sold shares in a fundraising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion, putting Holmes’s worth at an estimated $4.5 billion.

Fascinating and Full of Facts
Revisado: 03-08-20
The story of this skank and her henchmen was covered fully and laid out in a clear manner for all to understand. The narrator was one of the best that I have listened to, he was very clear and had a pleasing narrator voice. There is something so satisfying about hearing a story of how a holler than though - better than you - person is revealed and brought down by their own doing. People that prey on others for their own financial gain are such low life's , especially when they prey on the health and well-being of others. Thank you to the reporters and brave souls that dare to cross said skank's proverbial line and blow the whistle on her.
