These selections from the many writings of Thomas Sowell over a period of half a century cover social, economic, cultural, legal, educational, and political issues. The sources range from Dr. Sowell’s letters, books, newspaper columns, and articles in both scholarly journals and popular magazines. Excellent, but a bit repetitive
Revisado: 05-29-21
A great selections of Sowells shorter texts that gives a good overall introduction to his thinking, and writing. However, since many texts are taken from various columns through the years, some themes and examples reappear quite a bit and feel quite repetitive. Still, highly recommended!

Adds nothing to the movie
Revisado: 11-08-20
The book came across as reading a screenplay. Absolutely nothing added on top of what you get from the movie. Some plot points I couldn’t even understand, and when looking at wikipedia I got confused because it mentioned a lot of things and information that I couldn’t remember from the book.
Turns out it’s an abridged version, and cut down to such an extent to be completely pointless. Such a disappointment.
Harris reading is acceptable over all, but never engaging or good. Sometimes it jumps between scenes and locations without any pause or change in inflection to indicate to the listener what happened. A few times I had to skip back a bit and relisten to not become completely disoriented when they seemingly teleport across locations and new people suddenly are in the room.

Great concept, so-so execution
Revisado: 12-30-19
First two thirds are great. Then it becomes very repetitive with being hunted by dinosaurs who for some reason are hell-bent on tracking down and killing every human on the island. The extremely annoying kid Lex who seems to have an extreme death wish further makes you want to skip ahead at many points.
All in all, a great concept which turned into a so-so book.
