Spoiler alert!!
——————————

I enjoyed it - however it’s very much just a story that seems for the sake of a story. I honestly expected the fox to turn out to be the entity in the end, so was disappointed. Overall, kind of “meh…”

Great stories and well presented. I've been driving with a hard on! Erotica is for fun and I've enjoyed this collection.

** plot points revealed**

I found myself speaking back to the audio with things like "seriously?" and "no kidding... (sarcastic face)" and guessing the next plot moment before it happened. It seems like a book written by a freshman college English major trying to be Dean Koontz or Stephen King, and with a Thesaurus at the ready. The writing is just not good.

I am a Dean Koontz fan and know what I am getting. But this one... jeesh.

And seriously? Rattle snakes? And what did the guy turn into exactly? A reptile? Was an original edit of the book chopped up so that things don't make full sense?

Gosh. Just did not like it. I listened to the entire book knowing full well I would be disappointed. Which I was. And had seen the ending coming.

I have tried for myself to determine if the reader was part of the problem. I'll say yes - but only in part. One can only do so much with the weak material. However, I think she did contribute. But I do no blame her.

In the end, I found it weak, predictable, and almost annoying. When one finds themselves talking back to the audio in annoyance, that's a sign.

I really enjoyed this story. As a 50-something gay guy, it got me thinking a lot about how the experience for young gay people has changed over the years (since I was in high school), and how things have not changed. The story was sweet and touching and very well written. I really enjoyed it. Loved the characters. Narration was good. A great listen that brought up a lot of thoughts, ultimately heart warming.

I have really enjoyed this series. The writing is great. The dialogue is excellent. The characters are well rendered and I adore many of them, especially Norma. It's great history, a great story. Highly recommend. This third book is even better than the previous two. Well done, Amy Stewart and Christina Moore.

I adore the writing of Amy Stewart. Her characters are well realized (I LOVE the sister Norma). The dialogue is funny, smart, and clear and it informs the characters with a sense of realism. I have only "listened to" the books in this series and I am a huge fan of Christina Moore. Her narration adds to the story without distracting from the writing. The history of women's role in the police just after the turn of the century, as well as in society in general, is so well identified, and there is a feminist quality to the story - not that it's a feminist book - EVERYONE would enjoy this story.

Youi do not have to read the first book in this series to enjoy it, but I advise it. The first book builds up the characters and story... and place and time... so that you can better enjoy this novel.

Really a GREAT book. I loved it and was sad when it ended. I will definitely get the next book in the series. Maybe not an "exciting and eventful" read; it is a GOOD read with great writing and, in this rendition, great narration. I will also buy this book just to read it so I can experience the writing in my own head.. History, characters, plot. I loved it!

There are some really beautiful lines written - I wish I could remember specific examples, but Amy Stewart is a great writer.

Highly recommended for those who want a quality novel.

I am such a fan of Christina Moore and have chosen books simply because she is the narrator - based primarily on her work with the Spellman Files series. This was another great find. A really good book, read especially well. I am sure I would have enjoyed this book if I read it myself, yet Christina Moore adds so much to the stories she reads, without interfering with the author's intention. I say this based on some Spellman Files books I listened to with a different narrator who was not as accomplished in her style and interpretation. If you want clear indication of what a good reader can mean to a book, listen to that Spellman Files series and try out her rendition, and then that of the other reader. The difference is astounding.

Can't say enough about her reading. And the book is a great story, with some very good history. Amy Stewart is a great writer. The characters are well developed and the story is compelling. I didn't know what to expect (again, having chosen the book primarily on the narrator). I am about to download the second book in the series. I really liked it.

I have come to really enjoy Jeremy Bobb's narration. He handles these stories and characters so well. This book is even better than its predecessor (Red Sparrow) - great story - great characters. And again, the reader really does a good job. I even enjoy the recipes at the end of chapters - at first it seemed like a hokey gimmick, but somehow it adds a depth to the cultural aspects of the story. It's a way to understand the cultural differences that the characters face, and gives me better insight into each culture. I think it's a really cool method and adds value.

The author definitely has a voice that builds a picture of American agents as heroes, and Russians's as not... with many exceptions. But it is in no way bombastic or incendiary. It's fascinating, fast-paced, deep, intriguing, and well written. A great read!

Loved it. Great book. The reader did a great job. It has a somewhat complicated plot and so I had to rewind a few to times to catch up, but that’s more about me than the book. The reader did an excellent job. Really enjoyed it!

How have I never read this book before? I stumbled on it while searching for books read by Christina Moore because she is a fantastic reader. I was not disappointed. This is another title to which her particular style of narration did great justice. Quirky, dark, funny, epic. Loved it. Highly recommend. I bought a copy of the book to ensure I have it in my library forever.
