Thoroughly Enjoyed This Listen
Revisado: 09-19-23
I have always wanted to read Foundation but never found the time. Listening to it while working has been very enjoyable. I have always liked Scott Bricks reading style and to is narration was no exception. Wonderful cadence and pacing. I would have liked a little more deferential between the main character voices but still an enjoyable listen.

I enjoyed this very much! I appreciated the slow build of the conclusion to the story. I would have liked to read a continuation but I will settle for the next book by Katy Hays.

I was drawn to this series because of the title. After listening to the first book, I was hooked.
Now after listening to the entire series, I can say without a doubt this was one of my most enjoyable listens in a while.
Both the story and the narration are to notch.
I highly recommend.

A bag of money drops out of the sky, literally, into the path of a cash-starved citizen named Graveyard. He carries it home to his wife, Ambience, and they embark on the adventure of their lives, finally able to have everything they've always thought they deserved: cars, guns, games, jewels, clothes - and of course sex, travel, and time with friends and family. There is no limit except their imagination and the hours in the day, and even those seem to be subject to their control. Of course, the owner of the bag is searching for it, and will do whatever is necessary to get it back.

Revisado: 02-12-20
I really wanted to like this. The Publisher's Summary is what drew me in, but by the time I got to chapter 7, I was ready to throw my phone across room. I like a good Dr. Seuss story, but I draw the line at Thomas Pynchon!

I was really excited about this because...
Revisado: 09-05-18
It's Capt. Janeway and the next generation of Stephen King, of course I was on board until...
Ms. Mulgrew butchered the names of places in my hometown, Haverhill and Merrimack - I just, couldn't do it. Each time she'd say each word I'd correct her, hoping that she'd get it right the next time. No such luck.
Then there were the odd pauses during suspenseful/tense moments - I get it! It's a tense moment, but her making an overly exaggerated pause to signify something intense was about to happen, was like watching someone making a mad dash for a packet of syrup only to watch them take f.o.r.e.v.e.r to squeeze it out!! Come on!! I'm here for the train-wreck, brain-twisting madness. Not Jeopardy! Just rip off the band-aid!!
Anyway the prospect of slogging through 100 chapters of this was not something I wanted to do, Sadly, I returned it.
I hope to try another title where Ms. Mulgrew narrates, but this one was not for me.

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Nope Book
Revisado: 04-09-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I just could not get into this book. I loved the narrator, but the story was hard to follow.
Would you ever listen to anything by Haruki Murakami again?
It hasn't. I just wound up dreading having to listen to it
Which character – as performed by Rupert Degas – was your favorite?
I can't tell
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle?
The narrator was great. I really enjoyed listening to how he performed the different characters.
Any additional comments?
I have read 1Q84 and I enjoyed that, but this was such a bore to me

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

An Amazing Story!
Revisado: 02-28-13
What made the experience of listening to The Night Circus the most enjoyable?
This book was recommended to me and I begrudgingly downloaded it. From the first line to the last word of the book I was captivated. The imagery, the passion, and the mystery were just the right amount of magic to pull you in and submerse you.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Night Circus?
I have to say all of the magic acts that weren't really "magic". They were above the kitsch "magic trick" type acts. Celia and Marco's one upmanships were fantastic! I think the best and most memorable is realizing that the story was being told one of the twins. I loved that surprised twist.
What about Jim Dale’s performance did you like?
I never felt rushed while listening to him. Out of the many books I've listened to, Mr. Dale has by far surpassed all of them. I loved his storytelling. It has been a treat listening to him.
Who was the most memorable character of The Night Circus and why?
The entire cast - hands down!
