Historia
From the critically acclaimed author of the ALA Notable and Charlotte Huck Honor Book Forever, or a Long, Long Time comes a moving own-voices story that shines a light on how one girl’s learning differences are neither right nor wrong...just perfectly individual.

Historia
"A publisher in New York asked me to write down what I know about the Greek gods, and I was like, 'Can we do this anonymously?' Because I don't need the Olympians mad at me again. But if it helps you to know your Greek gods, and survive an encounter with them if they ever show up in your face, then I guess writing all this down will be my good deed for the week." So begins Percy Jackson's Greek Gods, in which the son of Poseidon adds his own magic - and sarcastic asides - to the classics.

This book got me into Greek mythology
Revisado: 04-22-23
I love this book. I’ve listened to it many times and have learned so much. I also like the Greek heroes and the series as well. I would recommend this book to any adult or child who wants adventure and humor, but also to learn I bit about Greek mythology

Historia
Anna Benz, an American in her late thirties, lives with her Swiss husband, Bruno—a banker—and their three young children in a postcard-perfect suburb of Zürich. Though she leads a comfortable, well-appointed life, Anna is falling apart inside. Adrift and increasingly unable to connect with the emotionally unavailable Bruno or even with her own thoughts and feelings, Anna tries to rouse herself with new experiences: German language classes, Jungian analysis, and a series of sexual affairs she enters with an ease that surprises even her.

Pity party
Revisado: 08-27-15
Maybe if I could have stuck it out to the end, I could have felt some sympathy for this character. But she is just so whiny, unmotivated and self-destructive, I couldn't stand it any longer. I only made it 2/3 of the way through before I could no longer justify surrounding myself with such negativity. Not a single redeeming quality to the character, and the inside of her head is the only perspective you get to have. Thank goodness for the delete button.

Historia
Gifted artist? Standout student? All his teachers are sure certain that Evan Galloway can be the graduate who brings glory to small, ordinary St. Sebastian's School. As for Evan, however, he can't be bothered anymore. Since the shock of his young father's suicide last spring, Evan no longer cares about the future. In fact, he believes that he spent the first fifteen years of his life living a lie. Despite his mother's encouragement and the steadfast companionship of his best friend, Alexis, Evan is mired in rage and bitterness. Good memories seem ludicrous when the present holds no hope.

Absolutely unlistenable

The narrator of this story was so annoying, particularly his portrayal of the teenage girl, that I had to turn it off after a couple of chapters. It seemed like it could be an interesting story, but I could not fight through the narration long enough to find out. Very disappointed!

Historia
The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

Pure fun!!
Revisado: 11-20-12
This story was just an absolute delight, beginning to end. The narrator really sounded like a carefree 20-something guy trying to find his place in the world. The wit and silliness of the main character's commentary was fun and just the right touch of humor. I do wonder what the written version of this book looks like, though that might just be the graphic designer in me wanting more visual input. While I had fun imagining what the crazy code books looked like and what the font might be, I do wonder if the printed version provided samples. Other than that, it was definitely an easy, fun listen, and I have recommended this to all my friends!

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

So hard to turn this one off!
Revisado: 10-08-12
I had such a hard time turning this one off! There was always a new twist around the corner, and I was hooked after the first hour. The dual narration (male and female) really made this story come to life. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves untangling a web of deception.

OK plot; tedious storytelling.
Revisado: 10-08-12
While the overall arc of this book was interesting, the pacing was tedious. It was definitely not a book that made me circle the block so I could finish a scene. In fact, I sometimes zoned out for a minute or two and never had to rewind to catch what I missed. Often, it felt like a dry history lecture. As for the action sequences, the events were described in such detail that it seemed like it took 15 minutes to get through just three or four seconds of "real-time" adventure. I also got really annoyed at the sarcastic dialogue between the two main characters. Just once I wanted one of them to answer a question with a straight answer instead of a "witty" retort. It was an OK story for our long road trip, but I won't be seeking out another book by this author.
