I just love anything by Elin Hilderbrand. She really takes you to a place. I’m dying to get a slice from Pizza Pi now! Hick reminds me of my father and I love him for that. I love Irene’s forgiving nature and realization that things are just things and they don’t matter. It’s something we should all take note of. Thanks Elin for letting me escape for a while.

I hate ragging on an author's pride and joy but here it goes. I found the setting of this book ideal. I liked the traditional haunted house feel and even the southern aspect of it. Overall, it's a good beach read or maybe something light for Halloween. However, this novel lacks deep character development and an engaging story line. I found myself rolling my eyes at a few predictable moments. If you love the details of a Stephen King novel, this is not for you. As for the narrator. Bless her heart. Her accents were terrible. Being a southerner myself with British relations, I laughed at her attempts.

Choose kindness. Choose selflessness. This is how this book made me feel. Michelle is truly a gifted writer and regardless of political affiliation, I whole heartily recommend this book. It gives the reader a women’s perspective especially to people who are fortunate enough to not know poverty or who have what I like to think, an average life. It stirs up empathy and compassion. It gives insight to how dangerous it is to want to make things better for children, for women, for everybody really, but how we should try anyhow. I feel inspired by Michelle and happier after reading this. Do yourself a favor, and give this a go.

Being a new mom, the topics covered in this book hit me hard. What would you do to keep your child in your life? What if you couldn’t have your own? What lengths would you go to feel loved? I enjoyed how both sides of every issue was fully explored. The omniscient narrator letting the reader in on every detail was very satisfying. I would recommend this book to new moms because the way I felt before baby and after was a striking revelation of who’ve I’ve become as a mother and woman. This book struck a chord with me and made me reflect introspectively. It also made me cry. It’s well written and flowed easily between past and present. It was a quick but excellent read.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I like the side story with Sydney and friends. Personally, Sydney's too perfect. I wish she had more character like an eye patch or an unsettling past... Adrian's the only thing that kept me going.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The plot was a little transparent.

Have you listened to any of Emily Shaffer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She does well.

Could you see Bloodlines being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I liked the VA movie because I liked the books because there was ACTION and ROMANCE. I feel VA is a better contender for the screen because I prefer Rose Hathaway's POV over Syd's stick in the mud, sugar free slurpy mentality.

Would you listen to A Game of Thrones again? Why?

Hell yes. This will be listen number 3. Roy Dotrice has incredible talent. He's easy to listen to and does the voices so well there's instant *BAM* character recognition. The plot development is thick and the multi point of view keeps it so very interesting. To me, it's a masterpiece. I read this before the show and after the show and during the show; I IMPLORE you, read this because there is so much more rich content and banter missing from the shows [obviously].

Who was your favorite character and why?

Arya OR Daenerys. Strong, intelligent females in a patriarchal society, duh. Although Hodor is pretty insightful at times.... **HOODDDOOORR** God love him.

What about Roy Dotrice’s performance did you like?

He breathes life into the characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot! It's clever humor.
