Perfetta
Revisado: 01-28-24
Elena creates a fun setting to experience Italian in different situations. Sometimes she speaks a little fast and sometimes a little slow, so you will be challenged without being bored. This podcast is a nice halfway point towards conversing in Italian, and is a great addition to whatever else you are doing to learn this beautiful language. Also, she has a beautiful voice!

Historia
Balram Halwai is a complicated man. Servant. Philosopher. Entrepreneur. Murderer. Balram tells us the terrible and transfixing story of how he came to be a success in life - having nothing but his own wits to help him along. Through Balram's eyes, we see India as we've never seen it before: the cockroaches and the call centers, the prostitutes and the worshippers, the water buffalo and, trapped in so many kinds of cages that escape is (almost) impossible, the white tiger.
With a charisma as undeniable as it is unexpected, Balram teaches us that religion doesn't create morality and money doesn't solve every problem.

Great book

Definitely worth your time. Takes on real world misery without being a preachy downer. A moving dark comedy, vibes of the movie “parasite”. Stroll with a modern Dante through the darkness, you won’t be disappointed.

Pure genius
Revisado: 10-04-22
Spend your credit here, and indulge yourself in this masterpiece. There must have been great pains taken to weave together such a perfect story, there are as many moving parts as there are orbits around our sun, planets, moons, and all, and the dance of it written out perfectly.

Didn't live up to the hype for me
Revisado: 09-20-21
I kept waiting for the story to really develop and turn into something, for some sort of twist, but ultimately it just stayed predictable. Felt like a dud of a firecracker. I would recommend The Outsider though, I think King did much better with that one.

Decent story, bad writing, overly dramatic narration.
Revisado: 06-14-18
The idea for the story has potential, but the writing drags, the characters are weak and cookie-cutter, and the narrator seemed too dramatic. Mild spoiler ahead... the battle scene was well written and the dramatic narration finally seemed plausible. However, overall I wouldn’t bother reading.

Historia
The Galahad, a faster-than-light spacecraft, carries 50 scientists and engineers on a mission to prepare Kepler 452b, Earth's nearest habitable neighbor at 1400 light years away. With Earth no longer habitable and the Mars colony slowly failing, they are humanity's best hope. After 10 years in a failed cryogenic bed - body asleep, mind awake - William Chanokh's torture comes to an end as the fog clears, the hatch opens, and his friend and fellow hacker, Tom, greets him...by stabbing a screwdriver into his heart. This is the first time William dies.

Infinitely Awful
Revisado: 12-14-17
What disappointed you about Infinite?
Jeremy Robinson needs to light a candle under his agents photo and worship them like a god, because anyone who could convince a publisher to take on this first draft, sophomoric, poor excuse for a book is unparalleled in their divine ability to negotiate.
I am haunted by the fact that a portion of my purchase goes to the author, and if laws permitted I would challenge Mr. Robinson to a duel (both in the name of Good Writing, and to reunite with my $12).
The sequence of events that can barely be called a plot is tossed at the reader like a 13 year old egging your house. The question of “reality” is debated at the level of a stoned frat boy. Scientific fact is either honored or completely rejected, creating a disjointed mother of all plot holes. What must be the result of an adderall induced weekend, a dare, or perhaps an inside joke, is the book Infinite. I could have spent this money on a chicken wrap, but here I am, hungry and deprived of good fiction.
