Good listen
Revisado: 05-10-23
I enjoyed the story very much. It was one of the better ones in the series. I just wish the ending hadn’t been so abrupt. After the case was solved, I think it needed more discussion and emotion. The narrator was okay. This was my second listen.

Fun listen
Revisado: 03-05-23
Good narrator. Some of the recurring characters sound different from what we are used to with Luke Daniels. This story was better than many others in the Krewe series. I always enjoy listening.

Historia
Decades ago in the small town of Fogg Lake, The Incident occurred: an explosion in the cave system that released unknown gases. The residents slept for two days. When they woke up they discovered that things had changed - they had changed. Some started having visions. Others heard ominous voices. And then, scientists from a mysterious government agency arrived. Determined not to become research subjects of strange experiments, the residents of Fogg Lake blamed their "hallucinations" on food poisoning, and the story worked. Now the eerie effects are showing up in Fogg Lake descendants.

Not bad
Revisado: 09-26-21
I’m a huge fan of Ms Krentz and have been since the 1990s. This new series is enjoyable as are all her books. This book seems to be a bit on the bland side. The narrator’s voice is sort of little girl like but she does a decent job of giving each character a distinct voice. Not everyone can read or act out books and dialogue like Barbara Rosenblat. The voice did get some getting used to. If you like this author’s books, you will enjoy this one I think

Historia
Adventure and romance enter Vicky Bliss' life in the form of a black-and-white photograph of a woman covered from head to toe in gold jewels. This "Trojan Gold" has an intriguing history, but it is the envelope that piques Vicky's curiosity. It is a grimy brown, with no return address, and it appears to have been soaked in blood.

Peters and Rosenblat. Magic together!
Revisado: 05-08-21
Elizabeth Peters was a master at romantic suspense with irreverent humor thrown in. Barbara Rosenblat acts out the story with panache as usual. She does wonderful accents and tone of voice that suits the characters. I, personally, enjoy her German accents. Very authentic.
Vicky Bliss is a great character. Smart, warm-hearted, clever, pragmatic as well as a romantic. And tall! To many female characters are petite. Being a tall woman, I appreciate Vicky. Her love affair with Sir John Smythe develops further and they are so good together. Peters manages to convey their passion and affection for each other without going into a lot of details. I’m a little in love with him myself. Great dialogue, beautiful locations, and fun mystery.

Historia
All of London is abuzz over the imminent arrival of Wulfric Bedwyn, the reclusive, cold-as-ice Duke of Bewcastle, at the most glittering social event of the season. Some whisper of a tragic love affair. Others say he is so aloof and passionless that not even the greatest beauty could capture his attention. But on this dazzling afternoon, one woman did catch the duke's eye - and she was the only female in the room who wasn't even trying.

My favorite Bedwyn story
Revisado: 05-14-17
I really like Wulfric, the hero of this story. His aloof aristocratic manner hides a passionate, sensitive soul. What's not to like? Christine, the heroine, is spunky, fun-loving and camouflages her private sorrow very well. I'm a sucker for misunderstood characters. The narrator is excellent as always. Mary Balogh is not one of my favorite romance authors, but is way above average. I've been reading her books and do like them. I have enjoyed the Bedwyn series, and this my personal favorite. If you like Balogh novels, you'll like this one.

One of Kleypas's best
Revisado: 12-05-16
For a long time this was my favorite romance novel. After reading --and listening--to this again, it still is one of the very best.
Derek and Sara are wonderful together. The deep love and respect they have for each other is so touching. The dialogue is good and the sexual scenes are top notch. This has a good story and has all the elements of a satisfying romance. The reader does the various voices and accents well. Rosalyn Landor reads a lot of novels like this and does a reasonable job of portraying the emotions of the characters.
Highly recommend this one!
