Historia
No wonder Elias Canetti described it as "one of the few great and perfect works of the poetic imagination written". The Metamorphosis remains one of the best works of fiction in history. It is the story of a traveling salesman, Gregor Samsa, who wakes up to find himself being transformed to an insect-like creature. The story unfolds into one of the greatest short fiction stories ever written.

Change by Chris Selna is a much better version
Revisado: 07-18-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Not this version. But as far as the book, yes. It's often cited as the greatest short story.
What did you like best about this story?
The premise and beautiful thoughts about the human condition, crappy jobs and family loyalties.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Not nearly up to par with this classic story. Way too underplayed. Like I said earlier, my fave audiobook version is 'Change' by Chris Selna, narrated by Ron Herczig.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
This my favorite book so on the 100th anniversary I listened to all the audiobook versions. By far the best was narrated by Ron Herczig and adapted by Chris Selna. The title is 'Change'.

The Metamorphosis begins as its protagonist, Gregor Samsa, wakes up one morning to find that he has become a huge insect. This change is understandably difficult for Gregor, not to mention his family and business. It ends up costing him his life.

Franz Kafka's 1915 novella of unexplained horror and nightmarish transformation became a worldwide classic and remains a century later one of the most widely read works of fiction in the world. It is the story of traveling salesman Gregor Samsa, who wakes one morning to find himself transformed into a monstrous insect. This hugely influential work inspired George Orwell, Albert Camus, Jorge Louis Borges, and Ray Bradbury, while continuing to unsettle millions of readers.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Absolutely. A must listen esp. for HS and college students
Who was your favorite character and why?
The sister because of her freak out scene.
What aspect of Edoardo Ballerini’s performance would you have changed?
He gives a very soft, sensitive read. Good. As a huge fan of the material I preferred another version. It's called Change by Chris Selna. Much more unexpected interpretation.
Could you see The Metamorphosis being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
It's already been two movies, a ballet, several plays

V. funny take on Kafka's Metamorphosis
Revisado: 09-09-15
What did you love best about Change?
I hadn't read the Metamorphosis since college and didn't recall much. It was great to get reacquainted with this classic and hear a fresh, hysterical interpretation.
What did you like best about this story?
It was scary, funny, sad. Perfect insights about lousy jobs, family politics and the human condition.
What about Ron Herczig’s performance did you like?
Totally over the top and under the bottom. Really brought out the humor. The blue-color Boston accent was well done.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The humor was contrasted with terror and poignancy. I laughed, felt sad. Gave me lots to think about.
Any additional comments?
Probably Kafka's most accessible book. I finished it off in two sittings.
