Overall the story isn't bad, but it takes a while for you to get invested. The writing isn't a style I like; I felt more like I was listening to a teenage book. The twists were obvious, the ending is overdramatic, and yet it still works out for everyone in the end. I would put this book as good background noise.

This book had an awesome intertwined story line, I felt the people reading read quickly and I had to slow it down just to follow. Seriously made you catch a glimpse into their culture.

This book is amazing if you're looking for good psychological thriller.I loved meeting Anna in this and hearing her story told by Ann Marie Lee made the story come to life! I could see her thought process throughout the book but also the flaw that the author so nicely points out through other characters. It is very well written, so if you're looking for something that will spark your interest but move at a slow pace, this book is for you.

Pros: Great character development and detail, amazing plot twists (that actually made sense), awesome narrator.

Cons: Too many twists (i dont want to spoil it but I felt like the author added in the final twist for shock.)

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to my friends because the story line is different and exciting. This book (without revealing any spoilers) had so many different aspects to it and you got to see essentially how all of the characters were feeling about the situation at hand. The author did an excellent job to make sure the characters were feeling according to their personality and not because she needed to have multiple different angles.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Emily and Einstein?

My favorite moment is when Emily gets back on her feet and moves on with her life. You see that she doesn't hold onto anything that she doesn't need and Sandy helped her move on her way. You also see how she has grown since the accident and how she has carried the accident with her as a learning experience rather than a burden. You find that with little help for anyone other Sandy, she has to push forward on her own.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene is the final scene when she runs the marathon. (Not trying to give an spoilers so I will leave it at that)

Who was the most memorable character of Emily and Einstein and why?

Jordan was the most memorable character. She was flaky, she was abrupt, and she was definitely not appropriate. You find however, that she is hurting just as bad as Emily for different reasons and you see how she is affecting everyone around her. She still stays the same old Jordan through out the book even though Sandy too tries to help her cope with her problems.

Any additional comments?

Overall the book was EXCELLENT. I loved the fact that they had to voice actors narrating the book, I also loved the fact that the book wasn't typical. Some of the areas were, but overall the book showed growth and depth within the characters. You feel for Emily and Jordan as well as Sandy through the tough situation that they are all facing. However, you see how everyone in the book grows from it and becomes better people from it.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

It depends on the friend to be quite honest. The book I believed was golden because it gave you a lot of studies and research that the author did to prove his points in this book. However, some people want the 'quick fix' on how to help themselves without having studies and research to back it up. I believe this book is more self aware than self help, only because it tells you why you do certain things and how you can manipulate your mind to change those aspects.

Who was your favorite character and why?

There were no characters in the book as the book was a self help book.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite part of the book was when he was talking about how your sub conscience mind has more power than your conscience. Example would be, if you make yourself a cup of coffee Monday thru Friday every morning before you go to work, it would suddenly become a habit and a ritual for you. But lets say that Saturday you do not make coffee as you use that time to sleep in or relax. Then lets say Monday is a holiday as to which you do not have to work, you still might find yourself making that cup of coffee on Monday and waking up at a certain time on Monday because you have been in that habit for quite some time. This was the most interesting part to me.

Could you see Making Habits, Breaking Habits being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

More of a documentary than anything. Again, it was more of a self help book than it is a character based book.

Any additional comments?

The book is good to listen too and again should be enjoyed and listened too if you like the research and study aspect. I will admit however, you need to have full concentration on this book because it sometimes can get a bit boring.

Typical Teenage Love Story

Where does Along for the Ride rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would rank this in the least interesting and intuitive book thus far. I did expect coming from Sarah Dessen for this book to be a typical teenage love story where everything works out in the end, and yet for some reason I was also expecting more. Some of her books, such as Just Listen or Dreamland, gave more depth than just a traditional love story and I guess that is what I was looking for in this book. She isn't my favorite author, but she is in the top ranks of what I read and listen too often times. Again, if you are looking for the typical teenage love story where everything works out in the end, then get this book.

Would you be willing to try another book from Sarah Dessen? Why or why not?

Yes but with more caution. Typically when I look for a new audible book I look by author or by chance, meaning that I'll find a genre that I would like to listen too and pick a random book from there. I went searching for Sarah Dessen and found this. If I decide to purchase another Dessen book, I would make sure to read the description carefully before listening too the book or reading it.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Rachel Botchan?

Yes and no. It irritated me that half way through the book, she started to pronounce Thigsby's name as Igsby. At first, I thought I wasn't hearing right, but as she kept performing, I realized that she was saying Igsby. There was no rhyme or reason as to why she was doing this and you don't find until later in the book that the main character started calling the other character that until the very end. Otherwise she kept the same voices for each character and she kept the performance up beat keeping you interested.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Living life to the fullest, one quest at a time.

Any additional comments?

Overall the book was good, again I just wished more than just a typical teenage love story. It isn't a bad purchase, but if your in the mood for a typical love story, this is your type of book. I will say that the character development was phenomenal, considering the main character changed slowly, and I was able to identify in some areas with her.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I loved listening to this book! The character development was awesome, the story gave you information that you needed, and didn't waste too much time giving you information that was not an important part of the story.

The one problem I had with the story was the ending. Now I listen to an audible book on my way to work almost every day, and my commute is rather easy and almost traffic free. So it gives me a good forty to forty five minutes to just drive and listen and not be distracted. However, I found that with this book towards the last five chapters, I kept having to repeat and repeat just to keep up with what was happening. The characters acted out of 'character' from what you knew them to be, and you never get a clear understanding of just HOW the ending was accomplished. I do not want to spoil the book for anyone, but it just kind of odd how a character was in the aid of leading someone else to their death, and at the very end changed their mind to help. Or that blood letter's daughter would be okay with betrayal when throughout the book you see how she doesn't forgive so easily.

The positives again was the story. It is based off of a true story and like any historical fiction with a few twists and flourishes to help enhance the story. You grow with the characters, understand what they're going through, and actually believe and understand when a character makes a poor choice. If you are looking for something that will take your breath away, and that will surprise you at every turn, I suggest this book hands down. Just ending is hard to follow and it ends kind of sappy when I do not think that everything should/would have a happy ending.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Nothing, the speaker was very good and clear and she kept certain voices with the main characters so you knew when one character was talking and didn't get confused because she kept he main voice.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene is when Marketa decides to go see Don Julius, and you see just how crazy Don Julius is and how naive Marketa was to think that he loved her. It kind of brings you back to when you were sixteen and how it just made sense when you thought it but not when you spoke it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it took me about a month to get through listening it to and from work only which is a forty to forty five minute drive.

Any additional comments?

Great book, great literature. I would recommend this book to anyone.
