Inspiring
Revisado: 04-07-20
The author disarmed me with her honestly. She explains her struggles one after the other, and her inspiring capacity to push forward. Not quit.
I’m so glad I bought this book, and you should too if you need encouragement in this dreadful time.

Historia
Before the charismatic John Duval Gluck, Jr., came along, letters from New York City children to Santa Claus were destroyed, unopened, by the US Post Office. Gluck saw an opportunity and created the Santa Claus Association. The effort delighted the public, and for 15 years money and gifts flowed to the only group authorized to answer Santa's mail. Gluck became a Jazz Age celebrity, rubbing shoulders with the era's movie stars and politicians.

Found this on Audible. Great look at Christmas in early 20th century, the rise of what we all know as Christmas today. Mr. Gluck, while a bit shady had an interesting life. Worth the read!

Historia
Britt-Marie can't stand mess. She eats dinner at precisely the right time and starts her day at six in the morning because only lunatics wake up later than that. And she is not passive-aggressive. Not in the least. It's just that sometimes people interpret her helpful suggestions as criticisms, which is certainly not her intention. But at 63, Britt-Marie has had enough. She finally walks out on her loveless 40-year marriage and finds a job in the only place she can: Borg, a small, derelict town devastated by the financial crisis.

Quirky lovable characters
Revisado: 08-18-16
I love a great story and this was one! Britt-Marie is quite quirky and so are all her new neighbors in Borg. Interesting telling of this small community hit hard by the economic downturn, but this is a happy book about people and relationships. I laughed out loud several times.

Sweet, well written story
Revisado: 08-13-16
While this story line has be used a million times the writer does a nice job of developing characters and drawing you into the world of this young lonely baker as she falls in love with a small town, it's people and one of its hometown boys. Lots of fun and a happy, cry through tears kind of read.

Another fun, snarky and heartwarming Andy Carpenter story. Love these characters and love how they have progressed through the years. The mystery is always good, but it's the personal connections the characters have and the witty dialogue that bring me back every time. Grover Gardner is an awesome narrator for this series!!

What a bright young talent. I found this book to better than the first. This is the 2nd in a series of 7. I can't wait for book 3 next March. I do hate waiting and this left us with a bigger cliff hanger than the first which I hate, but at least I don't have to wait too long. :)

Dark and Fun Fantasy/SciFi
Revisado: 07-24-16
This was a very interesting YA novel and fun take on the future. Having supernatural gifts in the future is punishable by prison and there are a group of trained militia who search London looking for these lawbreakers. Paige is a 19 year old dream-walker and part of a crime syndicate of other supernaturally gifted humans.
Paige, who pretends to be a waitress at an oxygen bar so that she can hide her secret life as a dream walker, is from a well to do family. She lost her mother at a young age, and her father is a well to do doctor and can not understand why his daughter has dropped out of school.
One day on a train she does the unthinkable and in less than 24 hours her world changes forever. This is a fun read, but I will admit it took a bit of time and several tries to get into it. It was worth the effort though, and once I got into the story I was hooked. This is not another Harry Potter as some have said in their reviews, but more like Hunger Games or Divergent. It projects a dark view of the future, but with a super natural twist. I really enjoyed it!

This was a fun book. I loved the Breakthrough series so snatched this. I like the author's style and this book like his others was fun. While it got a little bogged down at the end I still enjoyed it a lot. Look forward to more from this author. He has quite an imagination!
