The best American novel to emerge from World War I, A Farewell to Arms is the unforgettable story of an American ambulance driver on the Italian front and his passion for a beautiful English nurse.

A beautiful novel.
Revisado: 07-26-22
Wow… what can I say that probably already been said before about this great book. I guess I’ll just speak from the heart. This is the second Ernest Hemingway novel I’ve read, the first being “The Old Man and the Sea”. Right away I found Hemingway to be much more accessible than a lot of the other authors of classic literature. No frills, just profoundly beautiful and truthful writing. This book nearly brought me to tears. There were also times I absolutely felt like I was with these people enjoying some of the pleasant moments they shared. Read this book. You won’t regret it.

Historia
In this gritty New York Times best-seller, the true story of a crooked deal between the FBI and the Irish Mob is exposed. By providing a penetrating look into the mean streets of mid-1970s South Boston, the author shows how two kids from the neighborhood cross paths again years later, ending in the biggest informant scandal in FBI history.

Best Bulger book I’ve read…
Revisado: 01-06-22
I’ve read three books about Whitey Bulger, “Brutal”, “The Brothers Bulger” and now “Black Mass”. I found this to be the best one. Great reader too.

Historia
A real-life Talented Mr. Ripley, the unbelievable 30-year run of a shape-shifting con man. The story of Clark Rockefeller is a stranger-than-fiction twist on the classic American success story of the self-made man-because Clark Rockefeller was totally made up. The career con man who convincingly passed himself off as Rockefeller was born in a small village in Germany.

Too fun! Didn’t want it to end…
Revisado: 12-13-21
This was so much fun to listen to. Very fascinating story and a great reader. The reader did the funniest accents. I think the Christian Gerhartsreiter is a repulsive lowlife but he made for a great story.

Historia
When it first appeared, A Rumor of War brought home to American readers, with terrifying vividness and honesty, the devastating effects of the Vietnam War on the soldiers who fought there. And while it is a memoir of one young man's experiences and therefore deeply personal, it is also a book that speaks powerfully to today's students about the larger themes of human conscience, good and evil, and the desperate extremes men are forced to confront in any war.

One of the best novels I’ve ever read.
Revisado: 10-31-21
Really enjoyed this book. To my surprise a lot of humor. And of course intense violence and unbelievably tragic suffering. A masterpiece of a novel.

Historia
The story of the young sociologist who studied a Chicago crack-dealing gang from the inside captured the world's attention when it was first described in Freakonomics. Gang Leader for a Day is the fascinating full story of how Sudhir Venkatest managed to gain entree into the gang, what he learned, and how his method revolutionized the academic establishment.

Historia
In June 2008, Florida-based victims’ rights attorney Bradley J. Edwards was 32-years-old and had just started his own law firm when a young woman named Courtney Wild came to see him. She told a shocking story of having been sexually coerced at the age of 14 by a wealthy man in Palm Beach named Jeffrey Epstein. Edwards, who had never heard of Epstein, had no idea that this moment would change the course of his life. Over the next 10 years, Edwards devoted himself to bringing Epstein to justice, and came close to losing everything in the process.

Wayyy Better Than “Filthy Rich”!
Revisado: 09-06-20
I read the book that the NetFlix documentary was based on “Filthy Rich”, and I can tell you that this is a much better book. Far more detailed, compelling. I am certain that no one knows this case better than Brad Edwards. Probably few people in the world know Epstein better than Brad Edwards. A great read.

Historia
This is the story of a Mob lawyer turned mole with a million-dollar contract on his head, a man who has clanged back and forth between sin and sainthood like a church bell clapper - a turbulent youth, a stint on Chicago's police force, law school, and then the inner sanctum of Chicago's leading mobsters and corrupt political officials. With wild abandon he chased crooked acquittals for the likes of Pat Marcy, an Al Capone protégé, who had become the Mob's key political operative.

Good if you’re interested in the mob…
Revisado: 10-27-18
This was a good book, but it could have been better because I feel the story was incredible. But it did not include operation family secrets, with Frank Calabres testimony helping these trials. At least that’s what I thought really happened.
