Heartbreakingly sad!
Revisado: 11-30-23
I am very impressed with how Matthew opened up, to share his troubled life, in order to try to help anyone who may need, or want, his help. What a shame that he was never able to achieve what he desired most in life, true love & a family. Good book!!!!!

What an engrossing story this is! It was such a rollercoaster of emotions taking me from mystery, to happiness, to disgust, to frightfulness & ending in sadness. Each character was so unique, which would take you down a totally different path. The centuries just sped by, ending pretty much as it began. Really good story!!!

Quite emotional
Revisado: 09-30-22
Wow! I knew that I was going to be captivated because I love historical fiction, but I totally lost it when the WWII action was unfolding. My dad was a survivor of Pearl Harbor & one of the "boys" recruited to get the burning bodies out of the bay. His recollection of events wasn't something he spoke of very often (he had nightmares until his death) but after he revisited for the 50th anniversary, he started sharing. This book relayed some of the horrors that the Greatest Generation endured, just so we could have the freedoms that we have today. Brilliant book which allowed me to shed a river of tears remembering what I had been told from a first-hand survivor, my dad.

I was intrigued to see that the Howard boys had written a book & had to see what it was about. Throughout their story, I was amazed how close it came to my husband's life story.
Clint & Ron have unfolded a wonderful recount of their lives growing up in Burbank & Toluca Lake. Fabulous book, guys!

A full rollercoaster of emotions!
Revisado: 05-15-21
This was a book that entirely gripped me right from the 1st chapter. I was so engrossed in the story that I couldn't stop in order to get rest. Needless to say, I didn't get any sleep last night because I just had to know what was going to happen next. Through tears & laughter, I was able to finish this wonderful story with a big sigh, know that all would be just fine. I have been a huge fan for over 30+ years & love how you are able to weave a portion of current events into your books. I feel doing that really adds oomph to your stories. Thank you, Ms. Steel!

Shocked & Dismayed!
Revisado: 02-15-21
Even days after I have finished this book, I am still haunted by what this little girl, young lady, woman endured throughout her lifetime. Yes, the story was entertaining, only to learn of someone's life that I have always admired but to come away aghast learning of all that Natasha/Natalie had endured & to find that there was absolutely no one to help her along her road. It was sad to learn that so many people wronged her, especially the ones who were supposed to have loved her. I just wish the one responsible for her murder would be held accountable before he dies, I don't care who he is or what his stature is in life, HE MURDERED SOMEONE. Justice NEEDS to be found for this amazing lady!
