Historia
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16. Because of its emphasis on "the Love of God" and Jesus' being the incarnation of that Love, many believe this gospel is the most important for new and old Christians alike to take to heart. Written by the "disciple whom Jesus loved", the book of John is organized around seven miracles, seven discourses and seven "I AM" statements. This study is so deep "an elephant can bathe in it, and yet an infant can wade in it."

Love the live commentary!

He has a lot of wonderful insights. He’s off on the - once save always saved - the Samaritan woman (he has a bias based on what other scholars have believed) - how about, she wanted alone time - to be with God, yet meets God face to face. Men could only divorce woman or maybe all her husbands died. She knew her Bible. The towns people greatly respected this woman - and came out to meet Jesus. She knew her Bible - prophets, Joseph’s well, temple, Messiah, etc. he didn’t tell her to ‘leave her sinful life.’ The man she now has doesn’t mean ‘immorality.’ This writer needs to be more open minded. The thief on the cross - Jesus had the power to forgive sins while ALIVE on earth - we were given a process to be forgiven once he left (Acts 2:38, Col 2, 1 Peter 3:21, to name a few). Great commentary - but off base on some subjects -

Historia
To master anything, one must first master themselves–one’s emotions, one’s thoughts, one’s actions. Eisenhower famously said that freedom is really the opportunity to practice self-discipline. Cicero called the virtue of temperance the polish of life. Without boundaries and restraint, we risk not only failing to meet our full potential and jeopardizing what we have achieved, but we ensure misery and shame. In a world of temptation and excess, this ancient idea is more urgent than ever.

I loved the content. Very inspiring. The narration was a bit choppy. But okay. Loved the part at the end - the investment into family life!

Writing as always with keen insight into the human condition and God’s provision for it, Yancey debunks this theory once and for all. Yes, he agrees, the Old Testament can be baffling, boring, and even offensive to the modern listener. But as he personally discovered, the Old Testament is full of rewards for the one who embraces its riches.

Historia
We live in an extraordinary time. Technological advances are happening at a rate faster than our ability to understand them, and in a world that moves faster than we can imagine, we cannot afford to stand still. These advances bring efficiency and abundance - and they are profoundly deflationary. Our economic systems were built for a pre-technology era when labor and capital were inextricably linked - an era that counted on growth and inflation and an era where we made money from inefficiency.

Loved the book. It has profound insights into the deflation vs inflation narrative being spoken about in 2021!
