Way too many special effects
Revisado: 07-28-24
The story and performance was good, but the effects were majorly distracting. This is a book not a movie.

Historia
Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted. To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne - a socialite and philanthropist - and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale. Amber's envy could eat her alive...if she didn't have a plan.

It is a long story that probably needs the time, but something needs to be different. Way too long for a really good book.

Not the strong Eve Duncan of past books
Revisado: 05-15-16
I like strong women! In the first two books of this trilogy, she seems to have softened to the point of nearly whiney. Come on Iris, lets give Eve her spine back. I like the premise of the stories as they have so many directions to go. Will happily read/listen to the next book and hope.

Historia
A seemingly straightforward private case turns out to be much more complicated - and sinister - than Special Agent A. X. L. Pendergast ever could have anticipated. Pendergast, together with his ward, Constance Greene, travels to the quaint seaside village of Exmouth, Massachusetts, to investigate the theft of a priceless wine collection. But inside the wine cellar, they find something considerably more disturbing: a bricked-up niche that once held a crumbling skeleton.

Disappointed
Revisado: 11-15-15
I had been anxiously awaiting this book, but it felt rushed, choppy, and just had to get it to the publisher. I would rather wait over a year and get a great book with the well written plots and subplots with multidimensional characters than to get a book every year that is sub parr. Still love Preston & Child and will definitely get their next Pendergast novel. Rene was amazing as usual.

Hit but a near miss
Revisado: 03-19-15
I liked the story, the characters and the narration. My problem was the characters were one dimensional. The characters were likable, flawed, enjoyable, but held no depth. My best way to explain this is to say I love the book and the narrator, but the Flat Stanley characters were a distraction.

Frustrated
Revisado: 11-14-14
It stumps me when an author or publisher chooses to change narrators after devoted listeners have followed them for many books. This narrator may be fine - it was my first listen for him, however, Bosch has a history and a voice already. I felt I did not know the characters and had a complete disconnect with the story, narrator and overall enjoyment. I hope whoever makes such blunders reads the reviews. Love Michael Connelly and will listen again when Dick Hill and Bosch return!

Repeat, repeat, repeat
Revisado: 07-29-14
I was disappointed with the contribution of new material presented in this book. Much of this book is verbatim - cut and paste from the first book. I expect much more from RNP. Having said that, this does bring an end to the trilogy. As always, I love Dennis Boutsikaris as a narrator.

Historia
Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

Highly recommend
Revisado: 03-31-13
Have been a fan of Lisa Gardner for some time. This book offers a great story and the narration is spot on. The building of complete, flawed, sad,and successful characters and families can be tricky, but not for Gardner. Good verses evil but only partially predictable ending. Twists until the very end.

A CHANGE IN NARRATORS - NOW!!??
Revisado: 12-26-12
Loved the story, love the narrator and love the authors. What were they thinking when changing narrators in a series. I felt I was reading about all new characters. Not as enjoyable as I was straining to reconnect to history.
