In Atlas of the Heart, Brown takes us on a journey through 87 of the emotions and experiences that define what it means to be human. As she maps the necessary skills and an actionable framework for meaningful connection, she gives us the language and tools to access a universe of new choices and second chances - a universe where we can share and steward the stories of our bravest and most heartbreaking moments with one another in a way that builds connection.

It started out so well...
Revisado: 05-04-23
This book was a recommend by colleagues. I'm always open to new authors and I work in the field of behavioral psychology, so I was looking forward to finishing this book on my daily commute.
It didn't take long before this book became one more soap box for someone to push their sarcastic political views. Not a great idea during tumultuous political times. No one wants to hear anyone else's opinion about politics in a book about emotions and the the human psyche. It started to feel like I was scrolling through social media and rolling my eyes while sifting through subtle jabs and condescensions toward other people and their viewpoints. This is rather interesting in a book that was supposedly written to improve matters of the heart.
Right around the section on nostalgia (which was grossly misinterpreted with wild stretches to make weak connections to racial and political issues), the book took a downward turn. It made me feel nostalgic for the beginning of the book. (Sorry, I couldn't resist).
It gets tiring living in a society where people in every market have to loop back to politics and give people their unsolicited advice or opinions about things that should be left to the individual.
I really was enjoying the book until she had to go there.
On a positive note- the narration was good.

Comforting Words to Begin the Day
Revisado: 04-22-21
A perfect addition to your morning coffee during your personal quiet time. Meyer's 90 devotions are short and sweet and on point. There is something for everyone as she provides a vast array of topics that will inevitably speak directly to you and inspire you to see things with a fresh perspective. This is a book you can listen to over and over again, five minutes at a time and still learn helpful reminders from it.
